NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players
Hassan Whiteside: Portland Trailblazers vs. Charlotte Hornets
DraftKings $8,200, FanDuel $10,000, Yahoo $41 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 33.3%, FanDuel 19.1% Yahoo Fantasy 35.5%
Though he missed Saturday’s game with a respiratory infection, if Hassan Whiteside is a go, then he is going to be in a phenomenal matchup. Over their last 10 games, Charlotte has been a bottom-five team from a rebounding and defensive efficiency standpoint. Whiteside is leading the league with 2.89 blocks per game and he is fourth with 14.0 rebounds per contest. Across his 36 games, he has double-doubled in all but six.
The FanDuel price for Whiteside is appropriate for this matchup. The DraftKings, FantasyDraft and Yahoo price tags, however, are a steal.
Over on FanDuel, we have Marvin Bagley III checking in with a $4,700 price point. He has been out with an ankle injury, but doing low-impact conditioning work. The hope is that he can come back and play 22-23 minutes which is where he had been prior to his most recent eight-game layoff. The $5,800 salary figure on DraftKings and the $22 on Yahoo are non-starters.
LeBron James (illness) is the top play assuming he is healthy and Anthony Davis (back) is still out. If both are in, they are tournament options. If somehow Davis is in and King James out, then Davis is the top play.
NBA DFS Picks: Good Value
Derrick Rose: Detroit Pistons vs. New Orleans Pelicans
DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $6,900, Yahoo $22 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 18.1%, FanDuel 19.1% Yahoo Fantasy 33.6%
In the eight games since Blake Griffin went down, we have seen Derrick Rose average 29.4 minutes per game. During this time, he has compiled per game averages of 22.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.1 assists and nearly one combined block/steal. This works out to 1.15 fantasy points per minute and there is a little upside off that with an extra steal or two or if Rose’s shot is falling tonight.
NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value
Sviatoslay Mykhailiuk: Detroit Pistons vs. New Orleans Pelicans
DraftKings $3,200, FanDuel $4,100, Yahoo $10 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 23.1%, FanDuel 1.0% Yahoo Fantasy 4.1%
Just say no to Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk. There are 20 teams in action and I do not even want to utilize Mykhailiuk as a placeholder option on DraftKings. He has started 10 of the last 12 games and is averaging 27.2 minutes and 18.2 fantasy points. This works out to 0.67 fantasy points per minute. He needs to get to 30 fantasy points to be a factor, I am not willing to take on that risk.

Step 1: download your current CSV lineup file from DraftKings (you need to have the current file so the Swaptimizer knows which players have been locked).
