NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players
Trae Young: Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards
DraftKings $9,500, FanDuel $9,600, Yahoo $47 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 38.4%, FanDuel 44.6% Yahoo Fantasy 23.4%
We have a nice 240.0 projected point total between the Wizards and Hawks tonight. Trae Young was out two games ago with a bruised thigh. However, in the game before and after that injury, he dropped 31 dimes. For the season, he is averaging 50 fantasy points per game. Washington has the fifth-worst defensive efficiency over their last 15 games, allowing 114.1 points per 100 possessions. Atlanta checks in as the third-fastest pace over this time frame with 103.2 possessions per 48 minutes and the Wizards are right behind at 101.4.
NBA DFS Picks: Good Value
Elfrid Payton: New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
DraftKings $5,500, FanDuel $5,800, Yahoo $20 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 40.0%, FanDuel 26.7% Yahoo Fantasy 47.4%
R.J. Barrett is going to miss another week and Alonzo Trier and Dennis Smith Jr. are essentially out of the rotation. That leaves Frank Ntilikina to handle the 12-15 minutes of point guard duty when Elfrid Payton is on the bench.
Over his last four games, Payton is averaging 31.6 minutes and 1.1 fantasy points per minute with 10.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists and 2.5 combined blocks/steals. Brooklyn played an overtime game last night in Detroit with Spencer Dinwiddie and Kyrie Irving logging 37 and 40 minutes, respectively. Ideally, they will not be as focused on defense tonight.
Yahoo Fantasy Discount Dandies
De’Anthony Melton vs. PHO – $11
T.J. McConnell at POR – $13
Trevor Ariza vs. IND – $12

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value
Bobby Portis: New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
DraftKings $3,600, FanDuel $3,900, Yahoo $14 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 38.7%, FanDuel 4.6% Yahoo Fantasy 3.2%
There are better options on Yahoo, but Bobby Portis is very enticing on DraftKings, FantasyDraft and FanDuel. Bobby Portis has settled into the rotation with two stints. The first typically comes towards the end of the first quarter where he plays 7-9 minutes and then again at the end of the third quarter. The risk here is that he generally does not close out games and unless one of the many forwards for the Knicks is hurt or in foul trouble, it is hard to envision more minutes for Portis.
This means we are banking on him to make his shots and collect some rebounds. In his last 17 games, including two starts, Portis has three steals and no blocked shots. In this stretch, he is averaging 20.4 minutes per game with a tick shy of a fantasy point per minute, topping 22 fantasy points three times.
NBA DFS Picks: SuperDraft
John Collins: Atlanta Hawks at Washington Wizards – 1.35x multiplier
Zion Williamson: New Orleans Pelicans vs. Boston Celtics – 2.0x multiplier
Mitchell Robinson: New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets – 1.6x multiplier
Our standout SuperDraft recommendations for today are John Collins in a favorable matchup against Washington who is among the worst rebounding teams in the league. Rookie phenom Zion Williamson pops with his maximum 2.0 multiplier and then Mitchell Robinson is in play against Jarrett Allen who played 40 minutes in an overtime game last night. Keep in mind that blocked shots are worth 3.0 points on SuperDraft.
