NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players

Nikola Jokic: Denver Nuggets vs. San Antonio Spurs

DraftKings $10,200, FanDuel $11,300, Yahoo $49 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 31.4%, FanDuel 5.8% Yahoo Fantasy 13.0%

This is going to be a wild one tonight as we have disparate pricing across the main DFS sites. Additionally, we have potentially seismic news if Giannis Antetokoumpo (personal) is out (hint: play Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton and Ersan Ilyasova). If Deandre Ayton (ankle) is out, the cupboard is pretty much bare in Phoenix for frontcourt options, so Cheick Diallo becomes a key play. He should see 26-28 minutes, albeit in a tough matchup.

Tonight will be the first time that Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets square off against the Spurs. This is pretty straightforward on sites not named FanDuel where we have flexibility to roster two centers. Do you see Jakob Poeltl and Trey Lyles being able to handle Jokic? I certainly don’t.

On FanDuel, pivoting to Karl-Anthony Towns at the same position for savings would be a savvy play.

NBA DFS Picks: Good Value

Victor Oladipo: Indiana Pacers vs. Brooklyn Nets

DraftKings $4,200, FanDuel $5,300, Yahoo $14 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 70.6%, FanDuel 32.8% Yahoo Fantasy 47.2%

This one is a miss by all of the DFS sites. Keep in mind that we are not getting prime Victor Oladipo, we are getting the guy who missed the better part of a year with a torn quad. However, the minutes have been ramping up in his five games back. The first three games, he was off the bench playing 21, 22.3 and 23.1 minutes then two starts with 25.3 and 27.5 with a game off on Saturday.

Indiana plays again on Wednesday, then is off for the All-Star Break. It would make sense of we continue to see Oladipo in the range of 26 to 28 minutes, as the team has said they will be keeping him under 30 heading into the break. This still gives us a little room for upside and at his price, even at a fantasy point per minute, he is a nice play. In his five games back, he has averaged 0.75 fantasy points per minute, but in his prior two seasons with the Pacers, he was just above 1.2 fantasy points per minute.

NBA DFS Picks: SuperDraft

Eric Bledsoe: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Sacramento Kings – 1.55x multiplier

Khris Middleton: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Sacramento Kings – 1.4x multiplier

Bam Adebayo: Miami Heat at Golden State Warriors – 1.40x multiplier

Our standout SuperDraft recommendations for today are Eric Bledsoe and Khris Middleton who are excellent options with Giannis Antetokoumpo in the lineup and near locks if he misses this game. Bam Adebayo gets to take on a Warriors team that is not equipped to handle him, even if Draymond Green is on the court. Do not worry if Jimmy Butler is in or out as this is a terrific matchup for Adebayo and there is a slim chance the Warriors can keep it close with Miami having played last night in Portland in the middle of their West Coast swing.

If you haven’t signed up for SuperDraft DFS, click this link and use the promo code Awesemo when making your first deposit of at least $100 and you will be eligible for $20 of free play. That will be provided in SuperDraft Cash which can be used to enter any paid contest immediately.

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value

Ricky Rubio: Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers

DraftKings $5,600, FanDuel $5,600, Yahoo $19 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 25.5%, FanDuel 19.4% Yahoo Fantasy 21.2%

A word of caution with Ricky Rubio who has seen his role change when playing along side Devin Booker. To start out the season, Rubio was running of the offense and Booker was playing more off-ball. We have seen Booker return to his ball-dominant ways and this hurts both the assist and field goal opportunities for Rubio. Since dropping 65.5 fantasy points in 35.4 minutes a few weeks back, he has played another 11 games, missing one due to injury.

Check out today's FREE DFS tool of the day

We will use that game as our arbitrary cut-off. Heading into it, Rubio was averaging 1.12 fantasy points per minute and 32.2 minutes per game for 36 fantasy points. Since that game, he has averaged 29.6 minutes per game and 0.8 fantasy points per minute for a tick shy of 24 fantasy points. While he is not a horrible play, in that stretch he has topped 30 fantasy points only once. Using that same arbitrary break point for Booker, he is averaging 1.15 points per minute before and 1.24 after. That was not exactly scientific, but the trend is there.
