NBA DFS Picks: Prime Time Players
Fred VanVleet: Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets
DraftKings $6,900, FanDuel $6,500, Yahoo $30 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 42.4%, FanDuel 59.5% Yahoo Fantasy 46.8%
Last night, Kyle Lowry (whiplash) suffered a neck injury and is currently doubtful to take the court Saturday. That puts Fred VanVleet squarely in play for 36-38 minutes. With Lowry off the court, VanVleet sees a 10% increase in his fantasy production to 1.15 fantasy points per minute. This is an increase in usage from 19.3% to 24.6% and assist rate from 24.9% to 33.9%.
We can also look to Terrence Davis to be more involved in the action. Over the last three games he is averaging 26.9 minutes with 19.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 combined blocks/steals. He has been en fuego from behind the arc splashing a dozen triples in this same stretch. Davis should be solidly in play for 26-28 minutes and projecting him for about as many fantasy points seems like a reasonable outcome.
NBA DFS Picks: Good Value
Christian Wood: Detroit Pistons vs. New York Knicks
DraftKings $6,700, FanDuel $7,300, Yahoo $15 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 15.1%, FanDuel 1.2% Yahoo Fantasy 67.2%
This recommendation is a little tougher on FanDuel, but we do gain a significant “ownership advantage” against the field. Christian Wood should get 32-34 minutes on the back-to-back tonight and we saw his upside last night when he dropped 50 fantasy points against the Thunder.
If John Henson plays that could curtail some of Wood’s minutes as the backup center, but Markieff Morris’ status should have no discernible impact. When Andre Drummond was off the court, Wood saw his usage increase from 17.8% to 22.1% and his rebounding from 10.7% to 16.1%. This season in 639.1 minutes without Drummond, Wood is averaging 1.27 fantasy points per minute.

NBA DFS Picks: SuperDraft
Caris LeVert: Brooklyn Nets at Toronto Raptors – 1.75x multiplier
Serge Ibaka: Toronto Raptors vs. Brooklyn Nets – 1.45x multiplier
Zion Williamson: New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers –Â 1.60x multiplier
Our standout SuperDraft recommendation for today is Caris LeVert. It is always a question of field goal attempts when we look to the former Michigan Wolverine, but in his last two games he has had 20 shot attempts in each. As long as he is in the starting lineup tonight, I will be making him a mainstay of my SuperDraft lineups. Serge Ibaka should see solid rebounding opportunities against the Nets and blocked shots are worth three points each and that can really add up with his multiplier. Keep an eye on the status of Zion Williamson who is dealing with a sore toe and could be getting the night off.

NBA DFS Picks: Risky Value
Ky Bowman: Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers
DraftKings $3,000, FanDuel $3,600, Yahoo $10 Ownership Rating (preliminary run): DraftKings 66.7%, FanDuel 24.7% Yahoo Fantasy 19.6%
Yes, Ky Bowman is essentially at the minimum price point on every site, but what exactly are we getting? In 37 games, 10 of them starts this season he is averaging 22.4 minutes and 0.74 fantasy points per minute. The ‘Dubs will be looking to fill in a lot of production with D’Angelo Russell out of town, but do not forget Andrew Wiggins is going to slot in for a lot of those vacated field goal attempts when he is cleared.
If Bowman sees 22-24 minutes he is not likely to be much of a difference maker. If he gets 32+ minutes he could make things very difficult to win without him on our rosters. There is a lot of uncertainty, so be sure to tune in to Live Before Lock at 6 p.m. EST for Fast Eddie Fear’s read on the situation.
