Yahoo NBA DFS Picks Today: Free Fantasy Basketball Rankings 2/3/22

Today’s NBA slate has six-games with the biggest over/under being the match-up between the Timberwolves and Pistons. Sacramento and the Lakers are both playing on back-to-backs tonight so watch the news on any of the big names on those teams, including Anthony Davis who has been getting a ton of probable tags of late.

As is the usual with NBA DFS we have lots of injury news to watch out for that will likely make building early lineups difficult. Jimmy Butler, Dejounte Murray and Trae Young are all game-time decisions today and would have massive impacts on their teams rosters and rotations if they were to miss their respective games. The Spurs will be an important team to watch in general as they have multiple players already ruled out from their frontcourt that will likely open up some extreme value at Centre and Power-Forward.

Yahoo NBA DFS Picks & Value Plays Today | Feb. 3

Guard — Chris Paul $40

The Phoenix Suns walk into this slate sporting a massive 115-point implied team total against the Hawks, who give up the sixth-most points per game in the league. Trae Young is a game-time decision, but if he plays, his defense is non-existent most nights and he will help push the pace. Regardless, Chris Paul sets up in a great spot and is top three in the point guard projections today. The spread between Paul, Stephen Curry and Dejounte Murray is not really big enough to justify paying up for anyone but Paul on Yahoo, especially with the matchup he has on tap. Start lineups with the Suns guard and go from there.

Guard — Gary Trent Jr. $24

The Raptors starters continue to get huge minutes on a nightly basis. Gary Trent Jr. has played over 40 minutes in three straight games and scored over 30 minutes in five straight games. Trent has become a near must-play based on this kind of volume, but his efficiency has also been elite in spots where he has not gotten the same kind of run. Trent is averaging just over a fantasy point per minute in his short-term form and plays a Bulls team that is bottom half of the league in terms of points, opposition field goal percentage and assists allowed. Paying down for Trent has big merit again tonight.

Forward — Anthony Edwards $33

The Timberwolves have played well of late, so it has been frustrating to see Anthony Edwards post two dud games in a row. Edwards owners have been a little unlucky of late in that injuries really should have made the last two games good ceiling spots for the small forward. Two of Minnesota’s guards are questionable again tonight, which could leave Edwards open for another shot at a monster game against a Pistons team that is bottom 10 in pretty much every defensive category. Edwards also rates out extremely well in the Awesemo projections, where he trails only Jimmy Butler at his position — but also comes $12 cheaper, a massive gap that is worth taking advantage of. Buying in on low sentiment feels like the play today.

Forward — Saddiq Bey $23

The Timberwolves – Pistons game features the largest over/under on the slate and two teams that rank in the bottom 10 in points allowed. Minnesota also allows a ton of 3-pointers, ranking seventh worst in 3’s ceded on the season. Saddiq Bey was cold from that area in his last game but has averaged over seven 3-point attempts per game over his last five starts. He has the highest point projection of any power forward today under $25 for play on Yahoo, and he has a fertile fantasy opponent on tap.

Center — Anthony Davis $41

Anthony Davis was the best value at his position last night, and he paid off with a 30-point and 15-rebound game that saw him play over 36 minutes for the second straight game. It is a back-to-back spot for Davis, so watch how the news develops into the day, but Davis has been playing through probable tags of late and has looked much healthier in recent starts. The Lakers cannot afford to have him take a day off with Lebron James out, and Davis has a solid matchup against a Clippers team that ranks second-to-last in rebounds allowed. He rates as the top play again at center and should be trusted barring any late-breaking inactivation.

Center — Clint Capela $21

For a spot of value at center today, looking at Clint Capela has some merit. The Hawks and Suns are projected for a close game, and Capela could easily dominate the boards in this matchup against a Phoenix team that ranks 17th in rebounds allowed this year. He has only posted double-digit points once in his last six games, but this game has the second-highest over/under and the makings of faster-paced, close affair. The extra possessions potentially could push Capela into double-double territory tonight and make him a good value at barely above $20.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Klay Thompson $18

Klay Thompson is coming off a rest game and gets a great matchup today against the Spurs. His shooting percentage has been lagging a bit in his last two starts, especially from 3-point range, but San Antonio’s defense ranks just 21st in opposition field percentage and 19th in opposition 3-point percentage. Thompson ranks out seventh in Awesemo projections at the shooting guard position today with the second-best value score of any player on the slate for play on Yahoo.

Yahoo NBA DFS Value Play — Drew Eubanks $10

The San Antonio Spurs are likely to be without their top two options at center today, which would leave Drew Eubanks in a position to potentially see 20-plus minutes against the Heat. It is always smart to be aware of guys getting huge bumps in DFS, and Eubanks will be the value to get on over at Yahoo today. He has averaged around 1 fantasy points per minute the last three times he has played over 20 minutes, and he has the best value score of any player on this slate.
