NBA DFS Value and Advice | March 6

Boston Celtics at Cleveland Cavaliers

The Boston Celtics travel to Cleveland to take on the Cavaliers in what should be an interesting matchup. However, there isn’t much to like for DFS purposes in this game, as there are no clear-cut options. Cleveland guard Darius Garland could see a bump in usage if Donovan Mitchell sits due to injury. Evan Mobley and Caris LeVert are also solid plays if Mitchell is out. Overall, this game is a low-scoring affair that should be avoided in DFS lineups.

Portland Trail Blazers at Detroit Pistons

The Portland Trail Blazers are coming off a tough loss against the Charlotte Hornets and will look to bounce back against the Detroit Pistons. Damian Lillard is a strong pay-up option, especially with Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic still sidelined. Cam Reddish is one of the best value plays on the slate, and Jerami Grant, Matisse Thybulle, Drew Eubanks and Trendon Watford are all viable options as well. Avoid playing Eubanks and Watford in the same lineup. For Detroit, Killian Hayes, Rodney McGruder and James Wiseman are all questionable, so monitor their status. Marvin Bagley is a top play regardless of injury news and only gets better if Wiseman is out. Hayes, Jaden Ivey, Hamidou Diallo, Wiseman and Alec Burks are all strong plays. Burks is even better if Hayes sits.

Philadelphia 76ers at Indiana Pacers

The Philadelphia 76ers travel to Indiana to take on the Pacers in a game that could feature some injury-related news. Tobias Harris and P.J. Tucker are both questionable and did not go through shootaround, which could open up minutes for De’Anthony Melton, Georges Niang and Jalen McDaniels if one or both are out. Tyrese Maxey is one of the best value plays on the slate, and Joel Embiid and James Harden are both very strong plays. Jordan Nwora is a good value, particularly if Aaron Nesmith is out again. Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield and Myles Turner are always solid tournament plays, and Bennedict Mathurin offers value at a sub-$5,000 price tag. Haliburton is likely to be questionable, and if he sits, T.J. McConnell becomes a great value play.

Atlanta Hawks at Miami Heat

The Atlanta Hawks will visit the Miami Heat in what could be an unappealing matchup for Atlanta players. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are always playable, but nothing stands out as a priority in this game. The Miami Heat are in a good spot, but prices are mostly correct. Tyler Herro should play huge minutes and is the best play from the Heat, while Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are both secondary tournament plays.

Toronto Raptors at Denver Nuggets

The Toronto Raptors visit the Denver Nuggets in a game with no clear priorities. However, there are plenty of secondary plays to consider. Any of the Raptors starters are viable, with Jakob Poeltl being the most appealing option. Nikola Jokic is always a top play, but Embiid projects similarly at a lower salary, so Jokic is a secondary option. Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., Aaron Gordon and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are all secondary plays as well.

Update: Michael Porter Jr. has been downgraded to questionable.

New Orleans Pelicans at Sacramento Kings

The Pelicans-Kings game offers a great environment for NBA DFS, with several players providing good value. If Jonas Valanciunas is out, Willy Hernangomez and Jaxson Hayes offer value, while Herbert Jones, Trey Murphy and Naji Marshall are all good value plays regardless. Brandon Ingram and C.J. McCollum offer high ceilings, with slightly better potential if Valanciunas is out. Sacramento does not have any clear priorities, but there are several secondary plays to consider such as Harrison Barnes, Keegan Murray, Malik Monk and Kevin Huerter. For contrarian plays, Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox have high upside potential. Overall, this game provides plenty of opportunities for both value and high-upside plays.
