Boom: Tyus Jones: $3,400 DraftKings/$4,400 FanDuel

74% DraftKings Boom/58% FanDuel Boom

Jones is a must-play tonight with Ja Morant (doubtful, back) not expected to suit up. For the 14 contests the point guard has missed this season, Jones has replaced him in the starting five on every occasion and delivered 28.2 DraftKings points in 30.6 minutes per game. With Morant off the floor, Jones scores one DraftKings point per minute, behind an 18% usage rate and a team-high 29.7% assist percentage. Getting the spot start at point tonight, Jones will be facing the Pacers, who rank 26th in defensive efficiency.

Indiana also ranks 12th in pace and despite missing Morant, the Grizzlies are tied with the Nets for the highest implied team total on the slate at 121 points. Furthermore, this contest’s total is the largest of this four-game slate at 235 points. Jones should destroy his low-price tags in this environment and is a perfect example of good chalk. By a mile, the veteran is rating as the No.1 value on the slate for both DraftKings and FanDuel in Awesemo’s NBA projections and he should be locked into every lineup you build tonight.

With Morant likely out tonight, Jones was popping up in the NBA lineup optimizer as one of the best value plays on the entire NBA fantasy slate. For all of the free NBA DFS picks today, check out the DraftKings NBA Fantasy Cheat Sheet and FanDuel NBA Fantasy Cheat Sheet.

Boom: Andre Drummond: $5,800 DraftKings/$5,500 FanDuel

35% DraftKings Boom/44% FanDuel Boom

At less than $6,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, Drummond is criminally underpriced with LaMarcus Aldridge (hip) missing his fourth straight game. In these past three with the veteran missing, Drummond has taken on a larger role, with 24 minutes per game. This may not seem like much, but this is plenty of time for an elite fantasy producer like Drummond. The center is collecting 1.3 DraftKings points per minute this season and with the expanded workload in these past three contests, Drummond has supplied 35 DraftKings points per game. Overall, for the six instances the veteran has logged a minimum of 20 minutes since joining the Nets last month, Drummond is amassing 37.5 DraftKings points per game, including four double-doubles.

Tonight, Awesemo NBA player projections have Drummond for 23.8 minutes in a juicy spot against the Magic. Orlando ranks 18th in defensive efficiency, and they are surrendering the sixth-most rebounds per game. The Nets’ implied team total is tied for the highest on the slate at 121 points and this matchup’s total is the second largest on the board at 232 points. Expect a double-double of at least 30 fantasy points from Drummond tonight and confidently deploy him in all formats. For both DraftKings and FanDuel, the UConn product owns a top-three Boom score on the slate in Awesemo’s NBA DFS Boom Bust Tool.

Boom: C.J. McCollum: $9,400 DraftKings/$8,500 FanDuel

27.3% DraftKings Boom/35% FanDuel Boom

McCollum (health protocols) will make his return tonight after missing the last two games and should garner a huge workload with Brandon Ingram (hamstring) still on the shelf. Before this recent absence, McCollum made two straight starts with Ingram inactive and dominated as the Pelicans’ alpha, supplying 53.5 DraftKings points in 34.7 minutes per game. Since being dealt to New Orleans at the trade deadline last month, McCollum’s usage has increased 4.2 percentage points to a team-high 33.2% with Ingram off the court. The former Blazer also handles a team-high 42.5% assist rate, which is a massive 13.5 percentage point upgrade from his average. Thanks to these rates, McCollum contributes 1.5 DraftKings points per minute sans Ingram.

Tonight, the Pelicans will be hosting the Suns. While Phoenix ranks fourth in defensive efficiency, they also rank ninth in pace, compared to New Orleans, who ranks 22nd. Playing way up in pace obviously bodes well for a guard like McCollum and this tilt is expected to generate a ton of scoring, with its total set at 231 points. The guard’s ceiling is well over 50 fantasy points tonight and McCollum is rating as the best value above $8,000 for both DraftKings and FanDuel in Awesemo’s NBA Fantasy Basketball rankings.

Fellow NBA daily fantasy expert Tyler Schmidt wrote at length about McCollum as one of the best NBA picks today in his NBA DFS Grades & Values article.

Boom: Wendell Carter Jr.: $7,400 DraftKings/$6,800 FanDuel

23% DraftKings Boom/27% FanDuel Boom

As usual, Carter Jr. is far too cheap for his upside. The forward has been terrific since the All-Star Break, providing 41 DraftKings points per game in his last eight starts. During this stretch, Carter Jr. has posted a 22.3% usage rate and led the Magic with 34 minutes per game. This Nets’ club he is going against tonight ranks 19th in defensive efficiency and as noted above, this matchup carries a large total of 232 points.

For the 14 times Carter Jr. has competed in a total of 220 points or higher this season, he is averaging 40 DraftKings points per game. Barring a huge blowout, which feels unlikely with the Magic at home and playing solid basketball recently, winning two of their last three, Carter Jr. should top 40 fantasy points tonight and is the best power forward value available for both DraftKings and FanDuel. For both sites, Carter Jr. possesses a top-10 Boom score on the slate in Awesemo’s NBA DFS Boom Bust Tool.
