Boom/Bust NBA Daily Fantasy Projections & Picks Today
Boom: Obi Toppin: $5,600 DraftKings/$5,500 FanDuel
29% DraftKings Boom/31% FanDuel Boom
At less than $6,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel, Toppin is a tough value to overlook. Julius Randle (quad) will remain sidelined tonight and in the seven games the power forward has missed this season, Toppin has replaced him in the Knicks starting five and provided 32 DraftKings points in 32.5 minutes per game. With Randle off the floor, Toppin contributes one DraftKings points per minute with a 21% usage rate in a sample of 1,007 minutes.
For tonight, the Knicks get to face a Nets’ club that ranks 20th in defensive efficiency and 10th in pace. This clash of inner-city rivals boasts the second-highest total on the slate at 229 points and presents a small five-point spread, in favor of Brooklyn. Toppin is a safe investment for over 30 fantasy points in this setting and is a sharp target for both cash games and GPPs.
Boom: Kristaps Porzingis: $8,400 DraftKings/$8,900 FanDuel
34% DraftKings Boom/28% FanDuel Boom
Porzingis is an excellent high-end spend tonight with Kyle Kuzma (knee) missing his 11th straight game. With Kuzma absent, Porzingis has produced 44.6 DraftKings points per game across his last 10 starts. In the 334 minutes Porzingis has played with Kuzma off the court, Porzingis’ usage has risen to a team-high 31.4%, resulting in 1.5 DraftKings points per minute. As for his matchup, Porzingis is going against a Hawks defense that ranks 26th in efficiency and this game’s total is the high mark of this six-game slate at 234 points.
In Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool, Porzingis has a ceiling over 50 fantasy points and is rating as a top-five option on the slate in terms of boom score for both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Boom: Dwight Powell: $4,700 DraftKings/$4,900 FanDuel
16% DraftKings Boom/16% FanDuel Boom
With Maxi Kleber (ankle) out of the lineup Sunday, Powell was the primary beneficiary, posting a double-double worth 42.3 DraftKings points in a road win over the Bucks. Kleber will remain unavailable Wednesday, and Powell has supplied 28.5 DraftKings points per game in the five games Kleber has missed since the Mavericks traded Porzingis to Washington. These strong results have been a product of Powell logging 32.4 minutes per game in these games, which is a notable upgrade from the 21.4 minutes per game he is averaging for the season.
Fresh off his outstanding effort in Sunday’s victory, Powell should continue to handle over 30 minutes tonight in a terrific spot against the Pistons. On top of ranking 21st in defensive efficiency, Detroit is surrendering the third-most rebounds and ninth most points in the paint. Also, 87% of Powell’s shot attempts have come in the paint this season and he is generating 0.9 DraftKings points per minute with Kleber and Porzingis off the court in a sample size of 1,013 minutes. Powell brings much better upside than his current salaries suggest and should not be a common name in large tournaments.
Boom: Rudy Gobert: $7,800 DraftKings/$7,900 FanDuel
24% DraftKings Boom/17% FanDuel Boom
As the Jazz jockey for playoff position with the regular season quickly comes to a close, Gobert has been a beast, with 46 DraftKings points per game across his last five starts. Tonight the Jazz will be hosting a tanking Thunder squad that is currently running out a G League roster and playing their second game in two nights. No team in the NBA has given up more rebounds than Oklahoma City this season and in three meetings against the club this year, Gobert is amassing 44.6 DraftKings points per game.
The Jazz carry the second-highest implied team total on the board at 118.25 points and in the 31 starts Gobert has played behind an implied team total of at least 115 points this season, the center has collected 42 DraftKings points per game. While priced correctly on FanDuel, Gobert is a standout value for this six-game slate at only $7,800 on DraftKings. At this discounted salary, Gobert sports a top-10 boom score on the slate in Awesemo’s Boom/Bust Tool.
