Expert NBA Fantasy Rankings & DFS Value Plays Today for DraftKings & FanDuel | 4/7/22

With the Masters and Opening Day for MLB underway, do not forget the NBA regular season is winding down. Tonight features a seven-game slate with a couple of really intriguing games. Late in the season, it is important to make sure to stay up to date on Awesemo’s NBA Starting Lineups page to see who is in and out of the lineup tonight. These four plays below are driven by Awesemo’s Fantasy Basketball Rankings. Our ownership projections are free tonight, so use that as another resource when building lineups.

DraftKings & FanDuel NBA Fantasy Basketball Rankings

*Grades are ordered DraftKings, FanDuel. The initial grade indicates a player’s strength of output, with the value grade indicating their strength as a play in relation to their salary.

PG Tre Jones — Grades: B, B | Values: A, A

The San Antonio Spurs have clinched a play-in tournament spot and may have a chance to have a home game if they can catch the New Orleans Pelicans. They are behind by one game, as they have won seven of their last eight games. Their recent winning streak has been even more impressive seeing as Dejounte Murray has missed the last three games with an illness and is out tonight. Tre Jones’s salary is rising, but he has averaged 13.7 points, 8.7 assists and 37.5 DraftKings points per game while shooting 53.3% from the field.

This is a homecoming game for Jones as the Spurs travel to take on the Timberwolves, who are basically locked into the seventh seed in the Western Conference. They continue to lead the league in pace, while the Spurs rank fourth. This matchup features by far the highest total on the slate at 241.5 points. Jones should thrive in this type of game environment. Prioritize Jones on DraftKings where he is the best projected value play and has the highest boom percentage in Awesemo’s NBA Fantasy Boom/Bust Tool.

C Nikola Jokic — Grades: A, A | Values: C, A

The Denver Nuggets are still trying to jockey for position in the Western Conference, as they still have a chance to move up to the fifth seed. Nikola Jokic is also battling for back-to-back MVP awards, as he is playing incredibly lately. Jokic has finished with 70 or more DraftKings points in six straight games. That consistency is exactly what is needed to be the best pay-up option, as Awesemo’s daily projections have Jokic scoring the most fantasy points on both sites tonight. The salary is climbing, but the upside and floor remain incredibly high.

This game against the Grizzlies has the second-highest total on the slate at 233 points as the Nuggets are favored by 4.5 points. The Grizzlies are locked into the second seed, so Jokic may be going against a depleted team. Our NBA DFS ownership projections seem to have Jokic relatively low and behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has not been nearly as good or consistent as Jokic lately. Jokic is averaging a massive double-double with 35.8 points and 16.3 rebounds per game while shooting 65.1% from the field in his last six games.

PF Moritz Wagner — Grades: B, C | Values: A, A

The Orlando Magic have nothing to play for except being spoilers. They have the second-worst record in the league and will be playing without Wendall Carter Jr., Cole Anthony and Franz Wagner. The Magic will look to get some valuable playing time out of Moritz Wagner, who is projected for 26 minutes and to be the best value on FanDuel and third best on DraftKings in Awesemo’s NBA daily fantasy projections. He is also leading the way on FanDuel with the highest boom percentage in Awesemo’s NBA DFS Boom/Bust Tool.

The Magic are massive 13-point road underdogs against the Hornets tonight, but this should be a fast tempo game environment. The Hornets rank third in pace this season and are allowing 115.1 points per game, which is the third highest in the league. Over the last two games, Wagner has shown a little bit of upside for his price, averaging 16.5 points and 29 DraftKings points per game while shooting 72.2% from the field. He has also had eight or more rebounds in three of his last four games. He is a great salary saver, especially on FanDuel.

SF Brandon Ingram — Grades: A, A | Values: B, A

Arguably the best play on the slate according to Awesemo’s Fantasy Basketball Rankings is Brandon Ingram. He is one of five players who have an A Grade and A Value for either site, and he is the cheapest of those five as well. The Pelicans hold a one-game lead over the Spurs and might be without Jonas Valanciunas tonight as he is questionable with an ankle injury. Even if he is unable to play, the Pelicans should still route the Trail Blazers, as they are 17-point favorites, which is the highest on the slate. They are implied for 118.75 points.

Ingram has not shot the ball well the past two games, but his salary has remained in check and he has shown upside recently. Ingram has finished with over 50 DraftKings points in three of his last seven games. These two teams have gone in opposite directions lately. The Pelicans have won seven of their last 10 games, while the Trail Blazers have lost 18 of their last 20 games since the All-Star Break. During that time, they rank last in defensive rating, allowing 123.2 points per game. Blowout risk is a concern, but Ingram has a massive ceiling in this spot.
