NBA Yahoo Cup Fantasy Basketball Picks | Round 12

NBA DFS Guard: Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers — $38

The reality of this slate is it will be dominated by the Miami Heat. They are extremely shorthanded and have one of the best matchups in all of basketball tonight against the Rockets. However, in a contest like the NBA Yahoo Cup, there has to be a point in the lineup that is not chalky to get to the top of the standings. Damian Lillard represents a player that has an immense ceiling in a great spot of his own.

Lillard is still without teammates Jusuf Nurkic and C.J. McCollum, and in that 283-minute sample this year, Lillard has a usage rate of 32.6% and 1.17 fantasy points per minute. The Lakers are first in pace and possessions per game this season and are still without forward Anthony Davis. When Davis has been off the court this year, the Lakers defensive rating has dropped to 111.9 which would rank 26th in the league. On top of all that, Lillard has scored the sixth-most points per game in isolation. Los Angeles has allowed the sixth-most points defensively, and with Portland ranking 29th in defensive rating themselves, this game should shootout with the highest total of the night.

Despite Lillard looking like a great play tonight for Yahoo lineups, the Awesemo projections have him slated for 5.1 rebounds tonight. That makes his rebounds over/under NBA player prop a great bet, which is sitting at over/under 5.5 tonight, and OddsShopper has an expected win rate of 56% when betting the under.

NBA DFS Forward: Lauri Markkanen, Cleveland Cavaliers — $15

Last night Lauri Markkanen was extremely popular on a three-game slate, and his salary did not move. He played 26 minutes and managed to score 30 fantasy points despite only hitting four shots and scoring 11 real points. The matchup with the Hawks gives Markkanen another chance to rack up fantasy points, as the Hawks are 25th in defensive rating. Cleveland is also in uncharted waters again tonight, as they are missing Darius Garland and Ricky Rubio, among others. It is a minuscule 35-minute sample size, but Markkanen has a 22.8% usage rate and 1.05 fantasy points per minute despite a true shooting rate of 45.7%. With a couple more minutes tonight and an extra made field goal or two, Markkanen can get close to 40 fantasy points in the NBA Yahoo Cup.

NBA DFS Center: Omer Yurtseven, Miami Heat — $16

Just because Damian Lillard is an opportunity to pivot, that does not mean the Heat players should be ignored. They had their previous game postponed because they would not have the league required eight players, and tonight does not appear to be that much different. It would be wise to utilize at least two Heat players tonight because Omer Yurtseven, Caleb Martin, Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler (if active) are all going to be on the floor for 32 minutes or more. Yurtseven played almost 33 minutes in the past game, and the Rockets are at the fourth-highest pace with the worst defensive rating in the league.

In that game Yurtseven had 14 touches in the paint and took 11 field goal attempts, only hitting four of them. He scored almost 40 fantasy points while scoring just 10 real points and has a higher ceiling tonight. Houston is 29th in points allowed in the paint. and they also rank 23rd in rebounds allowed in the paint. Yurtseven is wildly underpriced in this scenario, and there is good chalk to play, even in the NBA Yahoo Cup.
