Core Play of the Day — Keon Johnson: Portland Trail Blazers-Sacramento Kings

With Portland throwing in the towel and playing without its entire starting five, it makes sense to get a lot of Trail Blazers exposure tonight. Keon Johnson looks like the best of the bunch, and matched up with a Kings team that gives up a ton of fantasy points to opposing guards, he’s way too cheap at $5,000 on DraftKings. Johnson is slightly more expensive on FanDuel but still projects as one of the top value plays on the slate. While Portland has been without the services of most of their key guys for a few games, the absence of Cam Reddish tonight should mean even more playing time for Johnson, making him a strong play regardless of whether he’s starting or coming off the bench.

Speaking of players who should benefit from Reddish sitting, Kevin Knox is right there with Johnson as the top value play on the slate. Coming off a game in which he played 32 minutes, Knox should see similar run tonight, as Portland is even more shorthanded than they were on Monday. While projecting Knox’s minutes can be a bit of a crapshoot, he played really well on Monday, accounting for 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal as the Blazers were destroyed by the Pelicans. He is projected to be the second-highest owned player on the slate, behind only Johnson, but Knox is a clear core building block at cheap price tags.

Utah Jazz-San Antonio Spurs
There is a ton to like on both Utah and San Antonio tonight. The Jazz will be without the services of Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson and Rudy Gay this evening. Without Markkanen, everybody on the Jazz looks slightly better, with Walker Kessler and Talen Horton-Tucker getting the biggest bumps.
The story is similar in San Antonio, where the Spurs will be without Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan tonight. Center Zach Collins looks like one of the best mid-range plays on the slate, at $6,400 on DraftKings. Malaki Branham also looks appealing at only $4,200 on DraftKings and $4,900 on FanDuel.
