NBA DFS Value and Advice | March 13

Indiana Pacers at Detroit Pistons

Monday’s matchup between the Pacers and the Pistons may not feature the most exciting basketball, but it does offer plenty of DFS potential. Indiana will be without key players such as Tyrese Haliburton, T.J. McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin and Myles Turner, while Buddy Hield is questionable. With Turner out, Isaiah Jackson and Jalen Smith are strong value options. Andrew Nembhard is a better player without Haliburton or McConnell on the floor, making him an appealing choice. Chris Duarte should see an increase in minutes and has a good chance of delivering value. Hield has a high ceiling if he plays, while Jordan Nwora, Oshae Brissett and Aaron Nesmith are contrarian value picks. If Hield is out, more playing time will be available for Nwora, Brissett and Nesmith.

Detroit is also missing several key players, including Jaden Ivey, Alec Burks, Hamidou Diallo, Bojan Bogdanovic, Isaiah Stewart, Marvin Bagley and Cade Cunningham, which makes Killian Hayes a top play. James Wiseman and Jalen Duren are worth considering for their respective salaries, but playing them together is not recommended. R.J. Hampton should get low to mid-20s minutes off the bench, while Eugene Omoruyi is likely to replace Bagley in the starting lineup.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Atlanta Hawks

Rudy Gobert is questionable for Monday’s game after playing 37 minutes in regulation last game. If he plays, he is a high-upside contrarian option. If he does not, Naz Reid becomes one of the best value picks on the slate. Anthony Edwards is a strong pay-up option at a reduced $9,200 price tag, and Kyle Anderson is a solid last man in. Trae Young is the only Atlanta player pulling double-digit ownership and looks good at his price, but there is some concern about his playing time under Quin Snyder. The remaining Atlanta starters are viable tournament picks, with Dejounte Murray and John Collins particularly appealing. Bogdan Bogdanovic remains cheap off the bench and should get around 24 minutes.

Latest NBA DFS Content

Memphis Grizzlies at Dallas Mavericks

The Grizzlies have seen an increase in salaries across the board, which could keep their ownership down. However, they are a strong team to target in tournaments due to their matchup against a defensively inept Dallas team. Any of Memphis’ starters are reasonable tournament picks, but Tyus Jones, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. should be prioritized. Kyrie Irving is questionable for Dallas, and if he plays, nothing stands out from the Mavericks. But if he does not, any of Tim Hardaway Jr., Jaden Hardy, Reggie Bullock, Josh Green and Maxi Kleber are worth considering. Christian Wood has a massive ceiling but only played 15 minutes last game without Luka Doncic or Irving, so it is tough to trust his playing time whenever Kleber is available.

Utah Jazz at Miami Heat

Jordan Clarkson is questionable for Utah, and if he sits, Talen Horton-Tucker, Lauri Markkanen, Kelly Olynyk and Kris Dunn all become marginally more appealing, but they still would not be priorities in a difficult matchup at elevated price tags. If Clarkson plays, it will be even harder to get to any of them. Kyle Lowry and Caleb Martin are questionable for Miami in a favorable matchup. Regardless of their status, Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro are all strong picks. If Lowry and Martin are out, more minutes will become available for Gabe Vincent, Victor Oladipo and Max Strus.

Boston Celtics at Houston Rockets

The Boston Celtics have an excellent matchup against the Houston Rockets, who are a fast team that does not defend well. However, there is some concern about whether or not the Celtics will need to play the fourth quarter, which could limit their production. Jayson Tatum is the top option for Boston, but Jaylen Brown stands out as an excellent tournament play at low ownership. Any of the remaining starters, as well as Malcolm Brogdon, are fine in tournaments as well.

On the other hand, Houston looks unappealing across the board. Although players like Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr. and Alperen Sengun are always playable, this is a very tough matchup and it’s difficult to rely on any of them. Tari Eason’s price tag dropped slightly after only playing 21 minutes last game and he offers a high ceiling off the bench, but he is still difficult to count on. Jabari Smith has been playing better of late, but his salary has increased, so he is difficult to roster as well.

Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors

Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton are all strong plays for the Phoenix Suns at their respective price points. Josh Okogie and Torrey Craig are reasonable value pieces as well. Terrence Ross is a deep GPP flier and the first man off the bench who should not be overlooked. For the Golden State Warriors, nothing stands out, but Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson always offer tournament upside at low ownership. Draymond Green is also a solid option as the final piece of a lineup.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Sacramento Kings

Giannis Antetokounmpo is questionable for the Milwaukee Bucks. If he plays, he is difficult to fit into lineups at a high price tag but is obviously a good play if he fits. His return would make the rest of Milwaukee extremely difficult to roster. If he sits, Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez all become viable options, though their increased salaries still keep them from looking as good as they did in previous games. For the Sacramento Kings, De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are both pulling ownership and look like good upper-mid range options. Harrison Barnes, Dejounte Murray, Kevin Huerter and Malik Monk all have tournament upside, but they also come with plenty of risk.
