NFL PrizePicks Pick’em Predictions | Week 2 MNF
Bryce Young M/L 17.5 Completions
Bryce Young M/L 189.5 Passing Yards
Pairing these two Young plays together takes advantage of two aspects of this Saints-Panthers matchup: One, the New Orleans defense seeming to be somewhat of a run funnel, and two, the Carolina passing game looking pretty shaky in Young’s first NFL start. Now, the whole “first start” thing could say a lot about Young’s struggles last week, but 38 attempts leading to just 146 yards was a level of inefficiency that seems unlikely to fully right itself just one game later.
One might argue that Young still completed 20 of those passes and therefore knocked off the first of these picks. However, given the result was 3.8 yards per pass attempt and 10 points, it is safe to assume Carolina will look to run more — as long as the Saints don’t build a massive lead. That is an important factor as well, as New Orleans appears to be content to grind out ugly wins on defense, restricting the passing game and letting opponents run a bit. The Panthers have good backs — Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders combined for 4.9 yards per carry on 27 attempts in Week 1. That seems like a more likely recipe tonight.
Stokastic currently projects Young for 15.9 completions for 171.2 yards, giving both of these less plays a 59% chance of hitting each.

Derek Carr M/L 19.5 Completions
Speaking to New Orleans’ apparent new style of ugly football, Carr’s stat line from last week does not totally reflect that — 23-for-33 for 305 yards. But that is a little misleading, as Carr was extremely safe with the ball, with Pro Football Focus crediting him with just two “big-time throws” and one “turnover-worthy play.” Basically, he took what the Titans gave him, which resulted in a strong 9.3 yards per attempt but only 16 points for the Saints.
This is a reasonably safe expectation for Monday Night Football. The Panthers appear to have a strong pass rush and a mediocre coverage unit, so Carr is in a good spot to get the ball out quickly and maintain his hyper-efficient, unsplashy play style that moves the chains but does not run up the score. Stokastic has him completing 20.3 passes, and the more on 19.5 has a 54% win expectancy.
