This week, the PGA Tour heads north for one of the sport’s oldest championships – the RBC Canadian Open. Dating back to 1904, this year marks the tournament’s debut at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley (North Course), a Par 70 stretching 7,389 yards. Let’s dive into my PGA DFS picks and core plays for the Canadian Open.
Course Preview
It’s a 156-player field and while the course is new to the Tour, it has all the makings of a classic TPC setup: two reachable par 5s, four tough par 3s (three of which are close to or over 200 yards), and 12 par 4s – most falling in the 450–500 yard range.
Despite the thick rough lining the fairly generous fairways, this is shaping up to be a driver-heavy track where bombers can thrive.
That said, strong iron play and short-game precision will still be critical. Key stats to keep in mind include SG: Off-the-Tee, SG: Approach, Scrambling, SG: Putting, and Par-4 Scoring. Like many TPC designs, expect scoring chances on the shorter holes, but trouble awaits if approach shots miss their targets.
I ran the numbers using Stokastic’s PGA Sims Tool – which simulates every hole and generates thousands of lineups using our in-house projections. It reveals which golfers consistently land in top-performing builds, helping you pinpoint core plays and uncover hidden value. If you’re serious about building sharp, +EV DFS lineups, this tool is a game-changer.
Let’s dive into my RBC Canadian Open picks that I’ll be building lineups around this week on DraftKings.
PGA DFS Picks: RBC Canadian Open DFS Picks & Core Plays
PGA DFS Picks: RBC Canadian Open DFS Picks & Core Plays: Corey Conners – $10,100
What better way to kick things off than with a Canadian?
In a field lacking star power, we’re paying a premium for Corey Conners – and it’s justified. Over his last 36 rounds, among this group, Conners ranks 2nd in SG: Total, 2nd in both SG: Tee-to-Green and Off-the-Tee, and 3rd in SG: Approach. He’s done particularly well with his approach shots from 150-175 yards, which will play to his favor at this track.
He’s been rock solid all season, missing just one cut in 14 starts, with 10 Top-25 finishes and five inside the Top 10. After running Stokastic’s PGA Sims Tool, Conners came out with the second-highest exposure – and it’s easy to see why.
Shane Lowry – $9,900
There’s no question that Lowry will draw a lot of attention this week – and our PGA Top Golfers Tool backs that notion, projecting him at 16% ownership.
He’s another player who could be in a prime opportunity due to the limited number of elite options. Over his last 36 rounds, he ranks 1st in SG: Approach, and sits 3rd in both SG: Total and SG: Tee-to-Green. He’s also solid around the greens (23rd) and ranks 26th in Scrambling this season.
While he doesn’t bring elite distance off the tee, he more than makes up for it with accuracy. His iron play remains a weapon, especially from 150–175 yards out where he ranks inside the Top 40 in GIR%.
Lowry carries a 13% Optimal Rate, and while he’s still chasing his first win of the year, he’s put himself in the mix plenty with five finishes of T-11 or better.
PGA DFS Picks; RBC Canadian Open DFS Picks & Core Plays: Alex Noren – $8,500
Alex Noren has only teed it up three times this year, but he’s quietly trending in the right direction – finishing T-51 at The Truist Championship, T-17 at the PGA Championship, and T-39 at The Memorial.
Despite the limited 2025 sample, our PGA DFS Sims are bullish on him this week. Noren is showing up in 24.3% of lineups with a strong +11% leverage over the field’s projected ownership.
Zooming out to his last 36 measured rounds, he ranks 10th in SG: Tee-to-Green, 22nd in SG: Total, and 27th in SG: Approach – making him a solid mid-tier option with plenty of upside.
GPP Flier: Nicolai Hojgaard – $7,400
Nicolai Hojgaard has some upside at his price that could make him one of the better GPP value targets on the slate. Over his last 36 rounds, Højgaard ranks 12th in Driving Distance and 24th in SG: Approach. He also sits inside the Top 40 in approach shots from 150–175 yards.
Yes, he’s missed 4 of 9 cuts this season, but the upside is there with finishes of 8th, T-18, and T-36 sprinkled in. At just 24 years old, the ceiling remains enticing – especially at sub-5% ownership.
Bonus Flier: Brandt Snedeker – $6,700
Snedeker ranks 22nd in Scrambling and sits above Tour average in both Par-4 Scoring and approach shots from 150–175 yards. Over his last 36 rounds, he’s 5th in SG: Putting, 25th in SG: Approach, and 6th in Driving Accuracy – a trio of stats that could serve him well on this setup.
If he stays steady off the tee, he’s got the skillset to keep himself in scoring positions all weekend. He’s also coming off a strong T-7 finish at The Memorial — let’s hope he can carry that momentum into Great White North.
