THE PLAYERS Championship, one of the PGA Tour’s most exciting weeks, is here once again. Despite some high-profile players withdrawing from the event, the field remains loaded with big names looking for an early-season win. This provides PGA DFS players with a wealth of options at every price point, thanks to the depth of the field. As always, the goal is to avoid landmines and find the combination that can get to the weekend with a chance. Here are a few PGA DFS value plays that belong in lineups this week and could potentially contend on Sunday.
PGA DFS Value Targets for THE PLAYERS Championship
Patrick Cantlay – $9,700 DraftKings
With so many options available in this loaded field, Patrick Cantlay fits well into many different builds. He is coming off another top-5 finish at Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he was once again dominant from tee to green. He gained 13 strokes tee to green at Genesis, finishing third, and added another 10 last week at Bay Hill. If Cantlay brings that level of ball striking to THE PLAYERS Championship, there is no reason he can’t contend despite his lackluster course history. Sub-$10,000 Cantlay is a great choice for balanced builds, but he will likely be popular, so be sure to differentiate lineups elsewhere.
Matthew Fitzpatrick – $8,600 DraftKings
There have beer a wide range of outcomes for Matthew Fitzpatrick this year, which has made him a risky PGA DFS option. His main issue has been his irons, as he lost strokes on approach shots in every 2023 start heading into Arnold Palmer Invitational. However, he showed promise with a 14th place finish last week, gaining 2.1 strokes on approach. If he pairs up his improved ball striking with his always-deadly putter on Bermuda greens, he could be a reasonable target in the mid-range. Fitzpatrick finished in the top 10 at THE PLAYERS Championship in 2021 and could do so again this year.

Corey Conners – $7,400 DraftKings
Despite not being able to hang in last week, Corey Conners showed some promising moments and finished a respectable 21st. He gained over five strokes tee to green, and his putter was about even — which is good for him. Unlike Cantlay and Fitzpatrick, Conners has an encouraging course history at THE PLAYERS Championship, finishing 41st, 7th and 26th in his three starts here. With conditions looking favorable for scoring, the ball striking will need to lead the way. Conners is projecting around 13% ownership, and he is a potential play in both tournaments and cash games.
