The PGA Tour rarely takes a break, but occasionally there is a format change to help break up the season. The Zurich Classic is one such event, with a team format set to begin on Thursday. Golfers will be paired with partners, and together they will aim to win the trophy. The format features a mix of alternate shot and best ball, which makes selecting DFS teams more difficult. Below are some of the teams to watch for this week’s Zurich Classic DFS picks.
PGA DFS: Zurich Classic DFS Picks & Projections
All salaries come from DraftKings.
Collin Morikawa/Max Homa – $10,900
Although Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are the clear favorites in this event, the Homa/Morikawa pairing is a team of elite players who will have much lower ownership, per Stokastic’s PGA DFS ownership projections. While they have not been as in form as the Cantlay/Schauffele combo, they still have an elite iron player in Morikawa who will not be solely responsible for the short game this week. Homa seems to do his best work out west, but he has all the tools to contend at any course in any part of the country. They are a clear pivot option off the top duo.
Joel Dahmen/Denny McCarthy – $8,900
One of the intriguing parts of the Zurich Classic is how the teammates’ games come together. Is it better to have two players who excel at the same skillset, giving them familiar shots, or two players who complete each other, thus helping mask the weakest part of each other’s game? The latter seems to work better, and Dahmen and McCarthy certainly fit the bill.

Dahmen’s elite ball striking is often let down by ice-cold putting, but he is paired with McCarthy, who is arguably the best Bermuda putter in the world. If he had Dahmen’s iron game, he would easily have wins on tour, and this week he gets that luxury. The team could potentially be sub-10% owned, which further piques interest.
Kevin Chappell/Jason Dufner – $6,900
Byeong Hun An and S.H. Kim are sure to be popular pay-down options this week, so if looking for stability, they are the team to consider. But for tournaments, there are plenty of pivots at a fraction of the ownership, and one aggressive dice roll is on Chappell and Dufner. They are just below $7,000 and should be only a few percent owned given they do not stand out in any one area.
Chappell has made four straight cuts, with all four finishes inside the top 40. He is also scoring, with 14 or more birdies in all those starts, which is important for DraftKings points. Dufner is riskier, but he has managed to make the cut in six of his last seven starts, and his iron game shows flashes of brilliance. Given that they have a partner to lean on for a ton of shots, it helps a player like Dufner, who can contribute in a few categories. This is the type of GPP flier to explore this week, and it is worth considering being over the field.
