NFL Yahoo Cup Fantasy Football Picks | Round 16
NFL DFS Quarterback: Matt Ryan — $25
Ryan is the top value in Awesemo’s Rankings for Week 16 on Yahoo. It’s a bit of a tough slate, as none of the quarterbacks with “A” grades for value have better than a “C” grade in scoring. But let’s save the salary here so we can spend up at other positions. Ryan has — on paper at least — an extremely easy matchup with the Lions this week. Detroit ranks 26th in DVOA against the pass, despite shutting down Kyler Murray and the Cardinals last week.
Ryan hasn’t thrown for multiple touchdowns in a game since early November, but this is a great chance to break that streak. His Falcons are implied for over 24 points this week, and are solid favorites against the Lions. Ryan has actually been solid form a yards-per-attempt standpoint as of late, but has had some bad touchdown luck with the Falcons scoring on the ground. That should regress here, making him a solid play at his reasonable price.
NFL DFS Running Back: Alexander Mattison — $16
This one is obvious. Mattison is back form the COVID list this week, having already been officially activated. The Viking starting back Dalvin Cook however, is not. Cook is unvaccinated, which means, by rule, he’s ineligible to return for Sunday’s contest. Of course, all of that news broke after salaries were released, making Mattison an extreme value.
Cook has missed three games so far this season. In each of those, Mattison has scored over Yahoo NFL DFS 19.9 points in each of them. Mattison is priced like the seldom-used backup he is with Cook active, but he’ll be a workhorse this week. It’s not the best matchup against the Rams, but the opportunity is far too good to pass up. Mattison has “A” grades in both value and points in Awesemo’s Rankings for Week 16 on Yahoo.
NFL DFS Wide Receiver: DJ Moore — $17
While it’s been a struggle for the Panthers offense as of late, Moore has been a bright spot. He has double-digit targets in three straight games, and at least 9.8 Yahoo points in each of those contests. The matchup is much better (at least from a volume standpoint) for Moore this week. Tampa Bay faces the highest opponent pass-play rate in the league, and Moore’s Panthers are 10-point underdogs. Both of which point to increased passing volume for the team in general, and Moore specifically — he leads the team with a 28.5% target share.
Given the low overall expectations for Carolina in this one, Moore is unlikely to pop off for a multi-touchdown game. He doesn’t need to though, thanks to his moderate price tag. He’s one of two receivers with an “A” for value and a “B” for total points in Awesemo’s Rankings for Week 16 on Yahoo.
