Daily Fantasy Football: Week 14 DraftKings + FanDuel NFL DFS Picks

Christian McCaffrey With A Potential Setback

It looked like McCaffrey was returning at the perfect time. Coming off of a bye week, McCaffrey was on track to play in the first week of fantasy football playoffs. That is until a report came out today that he suffered a setback. Dealing with a thigh injury, McCaffrey is now considered doubtful to play on Sunday against the Broncos. Due to ankle and shoulder injuries, we have only seen McCaffrey play in three games, but he was effective in all of them. It is also notable that coming back from an extended absence in Week 9, he got 28 touches and scored nearly 40 fantasy points. There isn’t much reason to believe that McCaffrey will face a restriction if active. If he is out, Mike Davis is a viable play, but he’s the same sort of lock play when he put up a dud in Week 10.

Buckle Up, Julio Jones Is Cheap Again **UPDATE JULIO DECLARED OUT**

Jones is currently listed questionable, but it’s hard to take that designation serious at this point in the week. At this point in his career, he is only getting in limited practice and carries some sort of designation heading into every week. Jones is more of a risk to get hurt during a game than any other wideout in the league although I think the upside at his current price tag makes the risk worthwhile. Coming back from a hamstring injury on Sunday, Jones was targeted 10 times. At least for one game, he didn’t look hampered by injury. The target share he received is promising and Jones is priced under $7,000 on DraftKings for only the third time this season. This is also a favorable game environment since the Falcons-Chargers’ game has the fourth-highest total on the slate.

A Week With Flat Ownership In Daily Fantasy Football

At this point in the week, no player is projected for over 20% ownership on DraftKings. On FanDuel the highest ownership projection is currently Davante Adams at 22%. This is always subject to change, but for now, ownership is not much of a factor on the slate. This is a result of a lack of strong values or obvious plays. This makes stacking even more important than normal. There is no real leverage at this point in the week with a lack of chalk and a lack of value makes point-per-dollar upside to come by. This type of slate leads me to make just about all my lineups with a quarterback, two of his pass catchers and at least one player to bring the stack back with on the other side. This is the best way to generate upside on a slate with fair pricing.

James Robinson Dealing With A Knee Injury

It isn’t clear if Robinson is in real danger of missing this weekend’s game, but it is at least something the Jaguars should consider. Their season is over, and Robinson is playing a massive role. Limiting him at practice is potentially just for precautionary reasons, although it’s not hard to see how Robinson is sore. He’s averaging 24.3 touches per game over the last six contests, and it’s not as if he is running behind the best offensive line in the league. If Robinson is out, things get interesting because he’s playing nearly all of the snaps in the Jaguars’ backfield. Dare Ogunbowale played 10 snaps last week and was the only other back on the roster to touch the field. He could end up as a massive value play without Robinson since Chris Thompson is on IR.

Myles Gaskin Plays Big Role In First Game Back

This is a recurring theme this season. Bell cow running backs get hurt and return to play their normal role despite time off. Gaskin was the latest in this trend. After missing four weeks while on the IR, he came back against the Bengals and carried the ball 21 times. This came in addition to catching a pair of passes for a season-best 51 yards. On paper, a matchup against the Chiefs isn’t ideal, but they are allowing 4.8 yards per carry. This is the third-worst of any defense in the NFL. Even though the game script isn’t favorable, Kansas City is weak enough against the run that Gaskin could have success based on efficiency. The passing game work from last week also suggests that the Dolphins could have him in the game in passing situations if (when) they get down.
