NFL DFS: Friday’s Preseason Week 2 Value Plays, Sleepers & NFL DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel (August 19)

Week 2 of the NFL Preseason continues with a three-game slate on Friday (Aug. 19, 2022). Like Week 1, the most important factor in preseason DFS is projecting playing time. This piece will dig into the roster of each team and pinpoint exactly where that value might come from and be the ultimate guide for making the best NFL DFS picks tonight for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.

New Orleans Saints

QB1 – Jameis Winston – Winston injured his foot on Aug. 8 and will not play here. He was a limited participant in practice as of Aug. 16.

QB2 – Andy Dalton – Dalton played 10 snaps in Week 1. He went 5-for-5 for 51 yards and one touchdown.

QB3 – Ian Book – Book rushed for 546 and 485 yards in his final two years with Notre Dame. He played 63 snaps in the preseason opener. He rushed four times for 44 yards and completed 15 of 22 passes for 121 yards and one interception.

QB4 – K.J. Costello – Costello didn’t play in the preseason Week 1 game and his signing looks like pure depth with Winston injured.

RB1 – Alvin Kamara – Kamara did not play last preseason and looks unlikely to play again in Week 2. The Saints are currently in joint practices with the Packers.

RB2 – Mark Ingram – Ingram is unlikely to play in Week 2.

RB3 – Tony Jones – Jones played 18 snaps. Jones carried seven times for 27 yards and caught his lone target.

RB4 – Dwayne Washington – Washington played 18 snaps. He carried nine times for 19 yards, while catching all three targets.

RB5 – Devine Ozigbo – Ozigbo played 21 snaps. He carried eight times for 26 yards and caught 1 of 2 targets.

RB6 – Abram Smith – Smith is an undrafted free agent out of Baylor. He is 6-foot-0, 213 pounds and ran a 4.59 40-yard dash. Smith rushed for 1,601 yards last year, but he only caught 13 passes in the same backfield with Trestan Ebner. He played 16 snaps in Week 1. Smith carried seven times and led the team in yards rushing with 30. He went 1 of 3 on targets.

RB7 – Adam Prentice – Fullback, but he played 17 snaps.

WR1 – Michael Thomas – Thomas is a full participant in joint practices with Green Bay, but unlikely to play in the preseason.

WR2 – Chris Olave – Olave was the 11th overall pick in the first round out of Ohio State. He is 6-foot-0, 187 pounds and ran a 4.39 40-yard dash. Olave played 15 snaps and ran eight routes in Week 1. He saw one target.

WR3 – Jarvis Landry – Landry did not play in Week 1.

WR4 – Tre’Quan Smith – Smith played 26 snaps and ran 15 routes. He saw two targets.

WR5 – Marquez Callaway – Callaway played 15 snaps and ran eight routes. He saw one target.

WR6 – Deonte Harty – Harty played four snaps and ran two routes. He did not receive a target.

WR7 – Kevin White – White played 11 snaps and ran three routes. He did not receive a target.

WR8 – Kawaan Baker – Baker played 37 snaps and ran 21 routes. He is suspended for the first six games of the year for PEDs. Baker saw two targets in Week 1.

WR9 – Kirk Merritt – Merritt played 24 snaps and ran 11 routes. He saw two targets.

WR10 – Dai’Jean Dixon – Dixon is an undrafted free agent out of Nicholls. He is 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and ran a 4.62 40-yard dash. Dixon played 23 snaps and ran 14 routes. He led the team in targets with four, catching three for 33 yards. No other receiver saw more than 2 targets.

WR11 – Rashid Shaheed – Shaheed is an undrafted free agent out of Weber State. He is 6-foot-0, 180 pounds and allegedly runs a 4.40 40-yard dash. He is a former sprinter and track athlete. Dixon did not appear in Week 1 of the preseason.

TE1 – Taysom Hill – Hill is going through a position change after primarily playing quarterback. Hill had been working in a non-contact jersey, but he returned to full practice on Aug. 16.

TE2 – Adam Trautman – Trautman played 11 snaps and ran three routes. He saw one target.

TE3 – Nick Vannett – Vannett played 32 snaps and ran 17 routes, but he returned to practice on Aug. 17.

TE4 – Juwan Johnson – Johnson is 6-foot-4, 231 pounds and a former wide receiver in college with Oregon. He played 13 snaps and ran eight routes in Week 1. He saw one target.

TE5 – J.P. Holtz – Holtz is 6-foot-4, 240 pounds and played 71 snaps last regular season. He blocked on 49 of them. He played 28 snaps and ran five routes in Week 1. He did not receive a target.

TE6 – Lucas Krull – Krull is an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh. He is 6-foot-6, 253 pounds and ran a 4.54 40-yard dash. He did not play in Week 1 of the preseason.

TE7 – Chris Herndon – Did not in Week 1.

Green Bay Packers

QB1 – Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers didn’t play last preseason and won’t play the first two preseason games.

QB2 – Jordan Love – Love played 46 snaps in Week 1. He completed 13 of 24 passes for 176 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed four times for 24 yards.

QB3 – Danny Etling – Etling last took snaps with Atlanta in 2019 in the preseason. He is a decent rusher and has 115 yards on four carries across his preseason snaps. He played 25 snaps in preseason Week 1, completing 6 of 8 passes for 123 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed four times for 18 yards.

RB1 – Aaron Jones – Jones didn’t play last preseason and isn’t expected to play here.

RB2 – A.J. Dillon – Dillon didn’t play in Week 1.

RB3 – Kylin Hill – Hill continues to rehab his Week 8 ACL tear.

RB4 – Patrick Taylor – Taylor surprisingly played 19 snaps in preseason Week 1 after battling injury for most of camp. He could start the year at the No. 3 back if Kylin Hill can’t get healthy. Taylor carried three times for 10 yards and went catchless on two targets.

RB5 – Tyler Goodson – Goodson is an undrafted free agent out of Iowa. He is 5-foot-9, 197 pounds and ran a 4.42 40-yard dash. He caught 31 passes last year and rushed for 1,151 yards. He played 29 snaps and ran 13 routes. Goodson rushed 12 times for 37 yards, while catching 2 of 3 targets for 24 yards.

RB6 – Dexter Williams – The Packers signed Williams Aug. 10. He is a longtime veteran of the team’s practice squad. He played nine snaps and ran four routes in Week 1. Williams rushed three times for 29 yards and went catchless on one target.

WR1 – Allen Lazard – Lazard didn’t play last preseason and isn’t expected to play here.

WR2 – Randall Cobb – Cobb didn’t play last preseason and isn’t expected to play here.

WR3 – Romeo Doubs – Doubs was the 132nd pick in the fourth round out of Nevada. He is 6-foot-2, 201 pounds and ran a 4.47 40-yard dash. He played 28 snaps and ran 17 routes. Doubs caught 3 of 7 targets for 45 yards and one touchdown.

WR4 Christian Watson – Watson was the 34th pick in the second round out of North Dakota State. He is 6-foot-4, 208 pounds and ran a 4.40 40-yard dash. Watson has been sidelined all camp with a knee injury, but he was activated off PUP on Aug 15. He is being brought along slowly and will not play here.

WR5 – Amari Rodgers – Rodgers played 53 snaps and ran 30 routes. He caught 1 of 2 targets for 22 yards and one touchdown.

WR6 – Sammy Watkins – Watkins didn’t play in Week 1 with an injury, but he has returned to practice.

WR7 – Juwann Winfree – Winfree played 29 snaps and ran 18 routes. He caught all three targets for 27 yards. He got banged up in Week 1, but he returned to practice on Aug. 15.

WR8 – Samori Toure – Toure was the 259th pick in the seventh round out of Nebraska. He is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and ran a 4.44 40-yard dash. He was an FCS All-American with Montana before transferring to Nebraska for his final year. Toure has been playing with the Love group. He played 44 snaps and ran 24 routes. He caught 3 of 4 targets for 42 yards.

WR9 – Danny Davis – Davis is an undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin. He is 6-foot-0, 188 pounds and ran a 4.62 40-yard dash. Davis has been practicing with Etling. He played 24 snaps and ran 14 routes. David caught both targets for 45 yards and one touchdown. Davis missed practice on Aug 17 with an ankle injury.

WR10 -Ishmael Hyman – Hyman caught 1 of 4 passes for 6 yards with Carolina last preseason. He played 15 snaps and ran 10 routes. He caught his only target for 7 yards.

WR11 – Travis Fulgham – Claimed Aug. 17

TE1- Robert Tonyan – Tonyan is rehabbing a torn ACL, but he was activated off PUP on Aug 15. He still isn’t doing team drills.

TE2 – Marcedes Lewis – Lewis did not play in Week 1 and isn’t expected to play here.

TE3 – Josiah Deguara – Deguara played 33 snaps and ran 20 routes. He caught 2 of 3 targets for 12 yards.

TE4 – Tyler Davis – Davis played 26 snaps and ran 14 routes. He went catchless on two targets.

TE 5-foot- Sal Cannella – Cannella was the New Orleans Breakers’ tight end in the USFL. He is 6-foot-5, 230 pounds and a pure receiving tight end. He played eight snaps and ran two routes.

TE6 – Alize Mack – Mack played 24 snaps and ran 10 routes.

TE7 – Nate Becker – claimed Aug. 15

K1 – Mason CrosbyCrosby has been sidelined with a knee injury.

K2 – Ramiz Ahmed – Green Bay cut Gabe Brkic and signed Ramiz Ahmed on Aug. 14.

Carolina Panthers

QB1 – Baker Mayfield – Mayfield played 12 snaps in Week 1. He completed 4 of 7 passes for 45 yards. Mayfield won’t play in Week 2.

QB2 – Sam Darnold – Darnold played six snaps in Week 1. He went 2 for 3 for 16 yards and one touchdown. Darnold won’t play in Week 2.

QB3 – P.J. Walker – Walker played 34 snaps in Week 1. He went 10 of 19 for 136 yards. Walker will play a half.

QB4 – Matt Corral – Corral was the 94th pick in the third round out of Ole Miss. Corral is extremely mobile and ran for 506 and 614 yards in back-to-back years with Ole Miss. He played 21 snaps in Week. He went 1-for-9 for 11 yards, while rushing one time for 6 yards. Corral will play a half.

RB1 – Christian McCaffrey – McCaffrey in Week 1 and won’t play this preseason.

RB2 – D’Onta Foreman – Foreman played 12 snaps. He carried three times for 5 yards.

RB3 – Chuba Hubbard – Hubbard played 16 snaps. He carried four times for 11 yards.

RB4 – Spencer Brown – Brown played 21 snaps. Brown led the team in carries with 10 for 36 yards and one touchdown.

RB5 – Giovani Ricci – Full Back, but he played 25 snaps and ran 14 routes. He caught all four of his targets for 36 yards.

WR1 – D.J. Moore – Moore did not play last preseason and won’t play here.

WR2 – Robbie Anderson – Anderson played five snaps and ran three routes. He missed practice on Aug. 17.

WR3 – Terrace Marshall – Marshall practiced in a no-contact jersey on Aug. 17.

WR4 – Derek Wright – Wright is an undrafted free agent out of Utah State. He is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds and ran a 4.55 40-yard dash at his pro day. He played 34 snaps and ran 21 routes in Week 1. He also caught all three of his targets for 46 yards. Wright took first team reps alongside D.J. Moore and Robbie Anderson on Aug. 16.

WR5 – Rashard Higgins – Higgins played 22 snaps and ran 16 routes in Week. He caught all three of his targets for 22 yards and one touchdown.

WR6 – Andre Roberts – Roberts is a 34-year-old special teamer. He caught 1 of 2 regular season targets last year. Roberts played three snaps and ran two routes. He was rehabbing on the side field as of Aug. 17.

WR7 – Brandon Zylstra – Zylstra played 23 snaps and ran 17 routes. He caught 2 of 3 targets for 32 yards.

WR8 – Keith Kirkwood – Kirkwood played 24 snaps and ran 15 routes. He led the team in targets with, catching three for 38 yards.

WR9 – Shi Smith – Smith played 21 snaps and ran 16 routes. He caught 2 of 5 targets for 34 yards. He wasn’t practicing as of Aug. 17.

WR10 – C.J. Saunders – Saunders excelling in camp but will miss 3 to 4 weeks with a quad strain.

WR11 – Charleston Rambo – Rambo is an undrafted free agent out of Miami. He is 6-foot-1, 177 pounds and ran a 4.57 40-yard dash. He played 18 snaps and ran 12 routes. Rambo went catchless on two targets.

WR12 – Ra’Shaun Henry – Henry is an undrafted free agent out of Virginia. He is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at his pro day. Henry played 47 snaps and ran 29 routes. He went catchless on four targets.

TE1 – Ian Thomas – Thomas will miss 1-2 weeks with an injury to his ribs as of Aug. 10.

TE2 – Tommy Tremble – Tremble played 11 snaps and ran six routes.

TE3 – Stephen Sullivan – Sullivan did not play in Week 1, but he is back at practice.

TE4 – Colin Thompson – Thompson caught his only target for 1 yard last year. Thompson was in a red non-contact jersey on Aug. 16.

TE5 – Josh Babicz – Babicz is an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State. He is 6-foot-6, 255 pounds and ran a 4.87 40-yard dash. He caught 12 passes for 254 yards in the Bison’s prehistoric offense. Babicz was carted off the field on Aug. 10 with an undisclosed injury and didn’t practice on Aug. 16.

TE6 – Jared Scott – Scott is an undrafted free agent out of Idaho/Jacksonville State. He is 6-foot-6, 240 pounds and caught 41 passes for 340 yards in his final year. He played 32 snaps and ran 23 routes. Scott went catchless on three targets.

TE7 – Ryan Izzo – Izzo played nine snaps and ran five routes.

K1 – Zane Gonzalez

New England Patriots

QB1 – Mac Jones – Jones didn’t play in Week 1. The Patriots are in joint practices with the Panthers this week, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

QB2 – Brian Hoyer – Hoyer played 14 snaps. He completed 5 of 8 passes for 59 yards and one touchdown.

QB3 – Bailey Zappe – Zappe was the 137th pick in the fourth round of the NFL Draft out of Western Kentucky. He isn’t mobile whatsoever. Zappe played 48 snaps in Week 1. He completed 19 of 32 passes for 205 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

RB1 – Damien Harris – Harris didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

RB2 – Rhamondre Stevenson – Stevenson didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

RB3 – Ty Montgomery – Montgomery did not play in Week 1 and he has been operating as the main back during hurry-up. His versatility at receiver gives him a strong case to make the roster.

RB4 – Pierre Strong – Strong was drafted 127th overall in the fourth round out of South Dakota State. He rushed 240 times for 1,686 yards while catching 22 passes. He ran a 4.37 40-yard dash at 5-foot-11, 207 pounds. Strong played 27 snaps in Week 1. He carried six times for 25 yards. Strong also saw one target.

RB5 – J.J. Taylor – Taylor played 14 snaps in Week 1. He carried five times for 16 yards.

RB6 – Kevin Harris – Harris was drafted 183rd overall in the sixth round out of South Carolina. Harris rushed 185 times for 1,138 yards in 2020. He also caught 21 passes and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds. Harris played 21 snaps in Week 1. He carried six times for 9 yards and one touchdown. He saw two targets.

WR1 – Jakobi Meyers – Meyers didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

WR2 – DeVante Parker – Parker didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

WR3 – Kendrick Bourne – Bourne didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

WR4 – Nelson Agholor – Agholor didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

WR5 – Tyquan Thornton – Thornton was drafted 50th overall in the second round. He is 6-foot-2, 181 pounds and came out of Baylor. He ran a 4.21 40-yard dash but produced below average collegiate production. He caught 62 passes for 948 yards as a fourth-year player. Thornton played 22 snaps and ran 16 routes in Week 1. He caught both of his targets for 9 yards and one touchdown.

WR6 – Tre Nixon – Nixon played 51 snaps and ran 36 routes. He saw eight targets, catching four for 81 yards.

WR7 – Kristian Wilkerson – Wilkerson played 46 snaps and ran 33 routes. He saw 12 targets, catching eight for 99 yards. He had to be carted off the field on Aug. 17 after getting laid out in joint practices.

WR8 – Lil’Jordan Humphrey – Humphrey is 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and a solid red zone threat. He played 44 snaps and ran 32 routes. He saw eight targets, catching six for 62 yards and one touchdown.

WR9 – Josh Hammond – Hammond played 34 snaps and ran 23 routes. He went catchless on four targets.

WR10 – Matthew Slater – Slater only plays special teams and will not play in the preseason.

TE1- Hunter Henry – Henry didn’t play in Week 1. He left practice early on Aug. 15.

TE2 – Jonnu Smith – Smith didn’t play in Week 1, but starters are expected to play a little bit.

TE3 – Devin Asiasi – Asiasi isn’t standing out in camp, but he returned to practice after missing Week 1.

TE4 – Dalton Keene – Keene is a former third-round pick from 2020. He is more of an H-Back type and never caught more than 28 passes in a single season in college. Keene isn’t standing out in camp and has missed a lot of practice time. He was limited as of Aug. 15.

TE5 – Matt Sokol – Sokol played 51 snaps and ran 31 routes as the only active Patriots’ tight end in Week 1. He only saw one target.

Houston Texans

QB1 – Davis Mills – Mills played seven snaps in Week 1. He went 3-for-3 passing.

QB2 – Jeff Driskel – Driskel played 51 snaps in Week 1. He completed 16 of 26 passes for 165 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. He also rushed three times for 17 yards.

QB3 – Kyle Allen – Allen missed Week 1 with COVID-19, but he is back at practice.

RB1 – Marlon Mack – Mack played eight snaps and rushed three times.

RB2 – Rex Burkhead – Burkhead didn’t play in Week 1.

RB3 – Dameon Pierce – Pierce was drafted 107th overall in the fourth round out of Florida. He was a part time player, but he is 5-foot-10, 218 pounds and ran a 4.59 40-yard dash. He played 11 snaps but rushed for 49 yards on five carries.

RB4 – Dare Ogunbowale – Ogunbowale played three snaps, seeing just one target.

RB5 – Royce Freeman – Freeman played 36 snaps. He led the team in carries with 12 but only managed 25 yards.

RB6 – Andy Janovich – Fullback, but he played two snaps.

RB7 – Paul Quessenberry – Fullback, but he played seven snaps

RB8 – Troy Hairston – Fullback, but he played five snaps.

WR1 – Brandin Cooks – Cooks didn’t play in Week 1.

WR2 – Nico Collins – Collins played seven snaps and ran three routes.

WR3 – Chris Moore – Moore played 24 snaps and ran 16 routes. He saw two targets.

WR4 – Chris Conley – Conley played seven snaps and ran three routes. He saw two targets.

WR5 – Phillip Dorsett – Dorsett played 21 snaps and ran 14 routes. He saw three targets.

WR6 – Connor Wedington – Wedington has gotten some reps with Mills. He played 38 snaps and ran 25 routes. He saw three targets, catching two for 5 yards.

WR7 – Jalen Camp – Camp played 21 snaps and ran 11 routes. He led the team in targets with four, converting two receptions for 53 yards and one touchdown.

WR8 – Johnny Johnson – Johnson is an undrafted free agent out of Oregon. He is 6-foot-0, 197 pounds and ran a 4.60 40-yard dash. Johnson played 12 snaps and ran nine routes. He saw three targets and caught two for 25 yards and one touchdown.

WR9 – Drew Estrada – Estrada is an undrafted free agent out of Baylor, who is 6-foot-0, 196 pounds. He ran a 4.58 40-yard dash at his Pro Day. He wasn’t practicing as of Aug. 17.

WR10 – Chester Rogers – Rodgers returned to practice Aug. 16.

TE1- Pharaoh Brown – Brown is mostly a blocker, but he played six snaps and ran four routes. He missed practice on Aug. 17.

TE2 – Brevin Jordan – Jordan played 20 snaps and ran 10 routes. He saw one target.

TE3 – Antony Auclair – Auclair is mostly a blocker. He missed practice on Aug. 16.

TE4 – Teagan Quitoriano – Quitoriano was drafted 170th overall in the fifth round out of Oregon State. He is 6-foot-7, 258 pounds and caught 19 passes for 214 yards. He is mostly a blocker. He didn’t play in Week 1, but he has been practicing as recently as Aug. 16.

TE5 – Mason Schreck – Schreck played 23 snaps and ran six routes.

TE6 – Seth Green – Green is an undrafted free agent out of Houston. He is 6-foot-4, 240 pounds and caught 13 passes for 157 yards. He was only a part time player, but he also blocked as his primary role. Green played 23 snaps and ran 15 routes. He saw three targets.

Los Angeles Rams

QB1 – Matthew Stafford – Stafford didn’t play in Week 1 and won’t this preseason

QB2 – John Wolford – Wolford didn’t play in Week 1, but he will get a half this week.

QB3 – Bryce Perkins – Perkins played all 61 snaps, completing 10 of 17 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed eight times for 39 yards and one touchdown. Perkins will play the second half this week.

RB1 – Cam Akers – Akers didn’t play in Week 1 and won’t this preseason

RB2 – Darrell Henderson – Henderson didn’t play in Week 1 and won’t this preseason

RB3 – Jake Funk – Funk played 13 snaps. He rushed six times for 16 yards. He also saw two targets in the pass game.

RB4 – Kyren Williams – Williams was the 164th pick in the fifth round out of Notre Dame. He is 5-foot-9, 194 pounds and ran a 4.65 40-yard dash. He rushed for 1,000+ yards in back-to-back seasons. He also caught 77 passes during that span. Williams was activated from PUP on Aug. 8, but he didn’t play in Week 1.

RB5 – Trey Ragas – Ragas played 10 snaps. He rushed four times for 9 yards.

RB6 – A.J. Rose – Rose played 14 snaps. He rushed eight times for 19 yards.

RB7 – Raymond Calais – Calais played 24 snaps. He rushed eight times for 25 yards.

WR1 – Cooper Kupp – Kupp didn’t play in Week 1 and won’t this preseason

WR2 – Allen Robinson – Robinson didn’t play in Week 1 and won’t this preseason

WR6 – Jacob Harris – Harris missed over a week with a groin injury, but he returned to practice on Aug. 15.

WR7 – Lance McCutcheon – McCutcheon is an undrafted free agent out of Montana State. He is 6-foot-3, 202 pounds and ran a 4.57 40-yard dash. McCutcheon played 53 snaps and ran 27 routes. He led the team in targets with six, converting on five receptions for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

WR8 – Brandon Powell – Powell caught 8 of 11 targets for 52 yards with Buffalo last preseason. Powell injured his knee and hasn’t been a full participant in practice. He ran sprints on Aug. 16.

WR9 – J.J. Koski – Koski played 43 snaps and ran 21 routes. He went catchless on one target. He went down in the team’s scrimmage with a shoulder injury on Aug. 16. It isn’t supposed to be serious.

WR10 – Landen Akers – Akers played 53 snaps and ran 25 routes. He went catchless on one target.

WR11 – Austin Trammell – Trammell played 29 snaps and ran 16 routes. He caught 3 of 4 targets for 27 yards.
