Week 6 NFL Survivor Picks: Are the Rams the Obvious Selection this Week, or Are the Bears Actually in Play?

Week 6 of the NFL season brings the dreaded bye weeks for the first time. In survivor, this takes an already difficult task of finding a team to a new level, with four or more teams not even on the schedule. As the weeks go by, this is where planning ahead will start to pay dividends. Let’s dive into who makes sense for this week and take a look at what happened in Week 5.

NFL Survivor Picks and Recap | Week 6

Week 5 NFL Survivor Pool Recap

Bills (-14.5 vs. Steelers)

The free square of the season was just that, as the Bills absolutely steamrolled the Steelers. The game was never close, and that’s the goal when burning the best team in the league. The only problem is not having the Bills could be costly as the season rolls on. Still, with plenty of people dropping out, the Bills provided a quick and easy advance from Week 5.

Vikings (-7 vs. Bears)

This was not nearly as easy as Buffalo, but the 10% of people who chose Minnesota last week did in fact move on. The Bears had a late lead and really pushed the Vikings to the brink of survivor elimination. Ultimately, the 7-point win counts just as much as a 30-point win, and Vikings backers breathed a sigh of relief.

Jaguars (-7.5 vs. Texans)

Nearly 15% of people went with the Jaguars last week in survivor, including this article. This turned out to be too much risk and no reward, as Jacksonville dropped a home game to the winless Texans. The defense clearly has talent, but the lack of offense was a huge disappointment for a team with big aspirations in the AFC South. This was the big landmine of the week and where the majority of losses came in pools.

Week 6 NFL Survivor Pool Picks

Bears (-1 vs. Commanders)

This Thursday night game would only be in play for the largest of pools or in formats that require using every team. Taking a 1-point favorite in a coin toss game is mostly too aggressive for smaller pools. However, this is probably one of the only times, if not the only time, the Bears will be favorite, as they draw a home game with a struggling Washington team. Justin Fields and his passing game can only improve, and if the Bears can protect him, he should have some success in this spot. Getting rid of the Bears is the goal here, but do not do it unless it is absolutely necessary.

Packers (-7.5 vs. Jets)

The London experience wasn’t good to Green Bay, who returned with a bad loss to the Giants. Clearly Aaron Rodgers and this pass catchers have work to do, but it’s really the turnovers doing them in. The Packers are still top 10 in yards per play but just 28th in the league in turnover margin. Back in Lambeau with the Jets coming to town is a perfect get-right spot. New York is improved, but given the Packers’ strength at home and a 7.5-point spread, they are still a high-confidence play in survivor.

Week 6 NFL Survivor Pick: Rams

Rams (-10 vs. Carolina)

This is an easy spot and a pretty conservative selection with the Rams in Week 6. Given their struggles, they may not be a team to save much longer, and they are the biggest favorite on the board. Los Angeles absolutely needs this game against a Carolina team that just fired their coach and is without Baker Mayfield at quarterback. Whoever is under center will struggle against the Rams, but this seems like a tall task for Carolina to emerge with a win. This will be the most popular selection on the board, but it seems like the prudent and obvious move for Week 6.
