Yahoo Daily Fantasy: Week 12 NFL First Look & Value Plays

QB Matthew Stafford — $29

The Packers defense finally broke down last week, allowing 341 yards passing and three touchdowns to Kirk Cousins. They get an even more lethal passing offense as an opponent in Week 12, with the Rams. Matthew Stafford is coming off two poor outings, but he has already posted five games on Yahoo this year with 24 or more Yahoo points. Stafford is also still third in yards per pass per attempt on the year and should be looking to emulate the success that Cousins had last week in this spot. At under $30, he is an solid value among the upper tiers.

QB Tua Tagovailoa — $22

There is a smaller main slate than normal, with just 10 games available. That means there is not a ton of great value options at quarterback, but Tua Tagovailoa sticks out. The Dolphins are coming off a solid win against the Jets in a game where Tagovailoa was able to complete 81% of his passes and throw for over 270 yards. The Panthers were an abject disaster on defense last week, allowing Taylor Heinicke a season-high 9.36 yards per attempt and three touchdowns (also tied for a season high). Tagovailoa has thrown an average of 39.5 times in his last four games as starter. He is projected as a great pay-down option at just $22.

RB Najee Harris — $31

The Steelers continue to run Najee Harris into the ground week after week. He left last week’s game against the Chargers briefly but still managed to catch five passes, run for a touchdown and play on over 75% of the snaps. While he has been eclipsed in upside by Jonathan Taylor of late, there is no player in the NFL with a more secure workload. The Steelers face a Bengals defense who has regressed a bit after a hot start and allowed 4.7 yards per carry against over their last three games. As long as he stays in the low $30-range on Yahoo, Harris should be staple in DFS builds.

RB Myles Gaskin — $14

The Carolina defense looks like it is regressing hard at the moment, and they allowed 4.8 yards per carry last week in their loss to Washington. Myles Gaskin has quietly touched the ball at least 15 times in five straight games and is averaging five targets a game over his last five. The move away from a three-man rotation in Miami makes Gaskin almost game flow-proof. Against a softer defense like the Panthers, his $14 price tag projects as one of the most undervalued targets at his position for Week 12.

WR Chris Godwin — $28

The Buccaneers are coming off an easy win on Monday Night, where they took an early lead and cruised to a 30-10 win. They take on a Colts team whose secondary has been one of the worst in the NFL. Indianapolis have allowed the most touchdowns to wide receivers this year and the fourth-most receptions to the position as well. Chris Godwin has scored in three of his last four games and converted 13 of his last 14 targets into catches. With the Colts offense dominating right now as well, this game has shootout potential, making Godwin a clear value target among the upper tiers, at under $30.

WR Brandin Cooks — $13

The Texans only threw 24 times last week and completed 14 passes, so Brandin Cooks’ dud game (in a spot where the Texans were up from the get-go) should not concern much. He is facing off against a terrible Jets secondary that has gotten worse as the season has progressed and allowed a league-high 9.7 yards per attempt over their last three games. Cooks should find more room downfield and looks like a great bargain at his lowest price of the season.

TE Dallas Goedert — $16

Dallas Goedert has not exactly exploded with a ton of fantasy goodness since Zach Ertz left, but he has not been an abject disaster either. He took in six catches on eight targets last week and also got a touchdown overruled when he was ruled down at the 1-yard line. Goedert’s sentiment will not be through the roof as a result, though, and he has seen six or more targets now in three of his last four games. A ceiling game is likely coming soon, and with his price well under $20 in Week 12, he again makes for a great DFS target.

TE Pat Freiermuth — $16

Another tight end who has developed into a very steady part of his team’s offense, Pat Freiermuth has averaged 7.25 targets over his last five games and also now leads the Steelers in red-zone targets. Pittsburgh has always loved to use their tight ends in the red zone, and Ben Roethlisberger has found some connection with Freiermuth, who now has five touchdowns on the year. With a lack of high-end tight ends to choose from for this Sunday’s main slate, Freiermuth’s mid-range price again makes him a great target.
