Yahoo Daily Fantasy Week 16: NFL DFS Rostership Picks and Pivots

Awesemo has a ton of great tools and NFL DFS strategy to help tackle all the largest contests for Week 16 NFL DFS. This Yahoo Daily Fantasy article will walk through some of the standouts in the early Awesemo rostership projections. It will look at who is projected to be highly rostered, who makes for good chalk plays, which highly rostered players may be worth fading and who the low-rostered pivots are in large-field tournaments. With that said, let us get into the Yahoo daily fantasy NFL picks for Week 16.

Week 16 Yahoo Daily Fantasy NFL Picks & Rostership

Awesemo has some of the best rostership projections on the planet for NFL DFS. If playing in large-field GPPs every week, then using rostership projections can bring a massive edge by knowing where the good pivot and leverage spots will be.

Quarterback

Good Chalk: Jalen Hurts $35 (Yahoo Projected 31.2% Rostered)

Like last week, Jalen Hurts is projecting quite chalky but also as a very strong play. He was bumped form the main slate last week but looks destined to play this Sunday in Week 16 against another weaker NFC East opponent. Hurts has the third-highest projection at his position this week for fantasy points but has just the fifth-highest salary for this main slate. The Eagles are 10-point favorites, and Hurts should push for 10-plus carries again, regardless of game flow. He has gone for over 21 points on Yahoo nine times this year and projects too strongly to consider fading in this spot despite high rostership projections.

Chalk to Fade: Tom Brady $34 (Yahoo Projected 19.0% Rostered)

Tom Brady had a disastrous Week 15, passing for 214 yards and an interception in a 9-0 loss to the Saints. Brady will also be without his best receiver and running back, with Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette out for the rest of the regular season. With stronger plays like Hurts ranked higher this week, Brady sets up as a rostership fade; he may be rostered in 20% or more of the lineups in GPPs this week.

Low-Rostered Pivot: Justin Fields $23 (Yahoo Projected 9.3% Rostered)

It has been an up-and-down season for Justin Fields, but he heads into this meeting with the Seahawks this week averaging 56 yards rushing per game over his last five starts. Fields has also started to find his groove on downfield passing too, as he averaged 11 yards per completion last week and has passed for over 220 yards in three of his last four starts. He just needs average pass numbers to produce big fantasy numbers, and he has been doing that more lately. He has the third-best value score this week and makes for a good pay-down option.

Running Back

Good Chalk: Ronald Jones $18 (Yahoo Projected 1.4 Rostered)

Running back is a messy position this week with all of the injuries and COVID cases, but Ronald Jones is nearly guaranteed to have a bigger role. Jones touched the ball 10 times in relief work for Fournette last week and averaged just under 8 yards per carry. He and the Buccaneers are favored by 10 points at the moment, so his roster projections should move up as the week progresses. Playing as the lead back on a high-powered offense, though, means he will be good chalk regardless of where his numbers land.

Chalk to Fade: Alex Collins $11 (Yahoo Projected 43.0% Rostered)

Alex Collins has just an $11 salary and seems likely to suit up for Week 16 after missing a couple of games. Despite the massive value that is available on Collins at just above $10, he does not carry much upside in this offense and seems likely to, at best, split carries with Rashaad Penny — who has been the Seahawks best offensive player of late. If there is more clarity on this situation later in the week, perhaps his rostership projection will come down, but if not, then he will likely set up as a good fade given the struggles of the Seahawks offense and the timeshare he will be in with Penny.

Low-Rostered Pivot: Sony Michel $20 (Yahoo Projected <1%% Rostered)

The Rams welcomed Darrell Henderson back to the fold last week but still gave Sony Michel the bulk of the workload. The Vikings are not a great run defense and have allowed 4.7 yards per carry this year, third worst in the league. Michel has extremely low rostership projections for Week 16 and could be a great contrarian start against a bad run defense.

Wide Receiver

Good Chalk: Antonio Brown $23 (Yahoo Projected 9.6% Rostered)

The Buccaneers will be without Godwin and could also be without Mike Evans this week. The good news is that Antonio Brown (fake vaccine records) is due back this week, and he was taking off in terms of fantasy production before he got injured back in Week 6. The Buccaneers really have no choice but to pepper Brown with targets, as they are facing a Panthers pass defense that has gotten worse as the year has progressed. Brown is cheap and may not even crack 10% rostership, making him a solid value to build around in Week 16.

Chalk to Fade: Keenan Allen $27 (Yahoo Projected 42.9% Rostered)

Keenan Allen has been very consistent this year, posting at least 10 fantasy points on Yahoo in 12 of his last 13 starts. Allen does not get into the end-zone as much as other top receivers, though (just five touchdowns on the year) and is projecting for 40%-plus rostership. There are four wideouts with better points projections than he has, and they will have much lower rostership as well.

Low-Rostered Pivot: Ja’Marr Chase $28 (Yahoo Projected <1.0% Rostered)

The Ravens secondary is riddled with injuries and COVID outages to the point where they have barely had enough defensive backs in recent weeks to finish the game. The Ravens allowed the Packers to go for 31 points last week, and the Bengals passing offense should be in a place to produce a big game of their own. Ja’Marr Chase’s production has run a bit cold of late, but he is projecting for  under 5% rostership and still has strong site projections. He is a great contrarian target in Week 16.

Tight End

Good Chalk: Dallas Goedert $20 (Yahoo Projected 7.0% Rostered)

The Eagles passing game has perked up a bit the last two weeks, and one big reason is the emergence of Dallas Goedert. Goedert is averaging 11 yards per reception and has scored twice over his last two games, yet he is super cheap on Yahoo at just $20 flat. The Giants make for another great opponent, as they have allowed the fourth-most receptions to opposing tight ends this year. Goedert projects for less than 10% rostership for Week 16.

Chalk to Fade: Rob Gronkowski $24 (Yahoo Projected 54.5% Rostered)

The Buccaneers will likely be without their top two wideouts this week, and the natural reaction is to assume that Rob Gronkowski will get peppered with targets as a result. That could happen, and fading Gronkowski is a bit risky, but Jones, Scotty Miller and Brown are all still in the mix and could easily account for a lot of the points against Carolina. Gronkowski is projected to be insanely popular, in potentially over half the rosters this week. He is a solid fade with other Buccaneers available at lower rostership numbers.

Low-Rostered Pivot: Gerald Everett $13 (Yahoo Projected <1.0% Rostered)

Gerald Everett has seen 21 targets over his last four games alone and is a solid after-catch receiver. He is not going to be very highly rostered, but if he finds the end zone again, his recent yardage and volume suggests a bigger game is possible. He projects as a solid value for Week 16.
