Tonight the San Francisco 49ers are hosting the Los Angeles Rams in the featured Monday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – $34

Matthew Stafford gets the slight nod as the top overall option. While his ceiling may not be quite as high as the receivers or running backs, they will need to have a multi-touchdown game to outscore him in most cases. This has a lot to do with both the half-PPR scoring system on Yahoo and the 2-point difference between a touchdown passing and a touchdown receiving or rushing. On the season Stafford is third in the league in yards passing with just over 307 per game. Although he does not do much on the ground, he has multiple touchdowns passing in seven of nine games, and only Tom Brady has thrown for more.

Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams – $37

This is the highest salary in the player pool, though Cooper Kupp has earned it. On the season he has 29-plus Yahoo points in three different games, while Deebo Samuel ($28) and Stafford each have one. Even with the loss of Robert Woods, who tore his ACL in practice on Friday, there are still enough playmakers on the Rams to keep the 49ers from selling out to put the clamps on Kupp. He is having a season for the ages, and he leads the league in targets, receptions, yards, touchdowns, first downs and receptions of 20-plus yards.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers – $21

This salary is quite appealing for Jimmy Garoppolo, and while he is unlikely to be a slate breaker, he should flirt with 20 Yahoo points. He does not run often, but he has three touchdowns rushing and is coming off a pair of 300-yard performances. Garoppolo has more than one touchdown passing in just two of seven outings. However, when counting his touchdowns rushing, he has four multi-touchdown games.

George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers – $24

After missing just over a month, George Kittle (calf) returned in style, turning eight targets into six receptions, 101 yards and his first touchdown of the year. It is highly unlikely that Kittle is ready for his customary 95-100% snap share, though he should be in the mix for something in the 80% range after seeing 73% last week. Most games Kittle will see double-digit targets, and coach Kyle Shanahan is going to have him on the field for every high-leverage situation.

Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams – $15

The addition of Odell Beckham Jr. should not adversely impact Van Jefferson. Quietly, Jefferson had become a solid option, and he is tied with tight end Tyler Higbee ($14) for the third-most targets on the team. He was already seeing more than 90% of the snaps prior to the loss of Woods. Beckham is going to be involved; however, Shanahan has already indicated it will be Ben Skowronek ($10) who will draw the start as the replacement for Woods.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers – $15

It seems that Brandon Aiyuk has worked his way back into the good graces of his coach and is well beyond his injury and conditioning issues that limited him for the first month of the season. This year he has just two games of double-digit fantasy points, and both came in the games where he scored a touchdown. In his last two games, he has seen 15 targets for 10 receptions, 134 yard and a touchdown, along with a two-point conversion. There is no mistaking him for the third or even fourth option in the 49ers offense, but this is an all-hands-on-deck situation tonight if they are to have a chance at victory.

Final Thoughts

Though there are plenty of mid-tier options, if going with an extreme stars-and-scrubs built, Skowronek, Kyle Juszczyk, Jauan Jennings and Trent Sherfield are all at the Yahoo minimum salary of $10. Mohamed Sanu and JaMycal Hasty are both out for San Francisco, which opens up a handful of opportunities. Sony Michel ($12) is also in play, but he will need something to befall Darrell Henderson ($25) to see more than half a dozen opportunities.
