Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 2 Sunday Night Football Ravens vs. Chiefs

Tonight the Baltimore Ravens are hosting the Kansas City Chiefs for the Week 2 featured Sunday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo Fantasy is making its NFL DFS debut in the NFL single-game format. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo fantasy points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the Sunday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 2 Sunday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format.

Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens – $30

Jackson has back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons and 62 touchdowns passing in his last 30 games. Plus, he gets to take on a porous Kansas City rushing defense with his top three running backs all injured. A 30% discount from Patrick Mahomes also makes Jackson worthy of the SUPERSTAR multiplier.

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs – $39

Over his 47 regular-season games, Mahomes is averaging 24.3 completions on 36.7 attempts for 308.3 yards and 2.5 touchdowns. Plus, he is suffering just 2.3 combined sacks, interceptions and fumbles per game. This will not be an easy matchup, but that has not ever stopped Mahomes before.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs – $18

This is a favorable salary considering Edwards-Helaire should see 20 to 25 opportunities. While the touchdown equity is hard to come by when sharing the field with Travis Kelce ($30) and Tyreek Hill ($34), this has been factored in by the Yahoo fantasy salary algorithm. He is healthy, and as long has he does not have any on-field lapses, he should continue to out snap Darrel Williams and Jerick McKinnon. If Kansas City can get out to a lead, Andy Reid will not be afraid to lean on the running game to speed up the clock. That is where Edwards-Helaire can unlock upside.

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens – $20

Ideally Brown will be active because that should help Andrews fly somewhat under the radar after his disappointing Week 1. Though he only had three receptions for 20 yards on five targets, he was on the field for just over 80% of the snaps, which was right behind Watkins. While it is a touchdown that will make or break Andrews’ success, if he manages to reach his Awesemo fantasy forecast of seven targets for 4.6 receptions and 54.1 yards, he will be a perfectly solid play in all formats.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Sammy Watkins, Baltimore Ravens – $12

This salary is an absolute steal for Watkins. Even if Marquise Brown (ankle) and Devin Duvernay (groin) suit up, Watkins is projected to exceed most of the players in Sunday’s nightcap. If Brown is out, just play Watkins in all formats.

Latavius Murray, Baltimore Ravens – $14

Last week, despite only a couple of practices under his belt, Murray had 10 carries to rookie Ty’Son Williams’ nine, and both scored a rushing touchdown. Tonight there should be closer to a 50/50 split for snaps, and there is a strong chance that Murray will outright takes over the lead role. Devonta Freeman ($10) will likely be active, with Trenton Cannon having been waived mid-week, but he likely would end up working in on the passing downs and impacting Williams more than Murray.

Final Thoughts

Things should be interesting in Yahoo tournaments, particularly the $100,000 Sunday Night Football Baller, with Kelce having the same salary as Jackson and Hill being more expensive. It will be hard to leave Jackson or Mahomes off of rosters, but that is going to be a path to finding differentiation, with just over 11,000 entries in the contest.
