Yahoo NFL Picks: NFC Conference Championship Sunday Night Football | Rams vs. 49ers

Tonight the Los Angeles Rams are hosting the San Francisco 49ers in the featured Sunday Night Football matchup, and Yahoo is offering NFL DFS single-game contests. The general concept of creating a team remains the same, but this is a one-game player pool. The twist is that any position player can be rostered, and one is designated to receive a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points. Using Awesemo’s expert NFL projections and rankings, these are the top Yahoo NFL picks for the NFC Conference Championship Sunday Night Football game tonight.

Yahoo NFL Picks: Conference Championship Sunday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format. Awesemo’s NFL DFS optimizer creates daily fantasy football cheat sheets. Check out who is popping in the Yahoo NFL DFS cheat sheet for the Divisional Round Sunday Night Football game.

Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams – $40

Though Cooper Kupp has the highest salary of tonight’s player pool, it is still feasible to pair him with his quarterback as well as still being able to select one other top-shelf options. This year Kupp had a receiving stat line for the ages and even though there was an extra game when compared to the other great seasons, he still led the league in targets, receptions, yards, yards after the catch, first downs, plays of 20 or more yards and touchdowns. It should be no surprise that he is also first or second in most of these same categories for the postseason.

This year San Francisco only allowed seven receiving performances of more than 100 yards, two of which belong to Kupp. To justify this salary tonight he needs at least 100 yards and a touchdown as the baseline, but that is also right in line with his Awesemo projections of 11.1 targets, 8.1 receptions, 107.5 yards with a 70% chance of finding the end zone.

Kupp is one of the leading options for SUPERSTAR on Yahoo, and Matt Savoca has an even more in-depth look at his outlook tonight from a holistic view across DraftKings and FanDuel in his NFC Conference Championship Sunday Night Football Showdown Breakdown.

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers – $39

This is a terrifying salary for Deebo Samuel who has seen his receiving opportunities curbed as he spends more time as a running back. In his last ten games he has averaged 7.3 carries and just 4.7 targets with around 100 combined yards. In this stretch he does have eight rushing and two receiving scores, which is artificially inflating his salary. Last week we saw what the downside would look like with four targets for three receptions and 44  yards and 10 carries for 39 yards totaling just 9.8 Yahoo Fantasy points.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – $31

Tonight we are likely to see Matthew Stafford on upwards of 90% of all rosters with his salary seeming like a bargain in comparison to the other top projected options. Stafford was second in the league with 41 touchdowns behind only Tom Brady, but unlike the future Hall of Famer, he also led the league with 17 interceptions. San Francisco held him to an average of 23.5 completions on 36.5 attempts for 241.0 yards with four touchdowns, four interceptions and seven sacks. This is not going to be an easy matchup, but unless another player scores multiple touchdowns, Stafford is likely to have the best fantasy performance more often than not among all of the available options.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Odell Beckham Jr., Los Angeles Rams – $24

The poor performances of his stint in Cleveland are all but forgotten after Odell Beckham Jr. stepped into a prominent role after joining the Rams. It is a shame that Robert Woods (knee) was lost for the season as this would have been arguably the best wide receiving trio in the league. Through two playoff games, Beckham has turned a dozen targets into 10 receptions for 123 yards and a score. While 100 receiving yards is a longshot tonight, a touchdown is very much in play.

Elijah Mitchell, San Francisco 49ers – $23

After taking control of the San Francisco backfield after Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson Jr. and JaMychal Hasty dealt with injuries and fellow rookie Trey Sermon looked like a bust, Elijah Mitchell has been a huge reason for the 49ers success on the ground this season. Across his last seven games, Mitchell is averaging 23.1 carries and on the season he had at least 17 totes in 9 of 11 games. He is also a capable receiver, though we know that opportunities are few and far between with coach Kyle Shanahan trying to keep Jimmy Garoppolo ($22) under two dozen pass attempts. Once the ‘Niners reach the red zone Samuel and tight end George Kittle ($22) become the primary options, so if Mitchell scores, it will likely need to be from outside the 20 yard line.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers – $22

Tonight Jimmy Garoppolo is just two dollars over the Yahoo minimum salary for quarterbacks. He is still looking for his first postseason touchdown and in his last five games he has three aerial scores. In five career playoff games, Garoppolo has thrown for more than 175 yards only once and he has just two touchdowns and five interceptions. This includes his trip to Super Bowl LIV just two short seasons ago. It is never fun rolling with Jimmy G, but man oh man he is by far the best value play on the slate tonight.

Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams – $13

While Van Jefferson has been limited in practice this week with a knee injury, he is expected to play tonight. In two playoff games he has four targets and one carry, so it is hard to get excited about him. Still, he is the most viable skill position player with the lowest salary which has some utility.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers – $17

Finding the four dollars to upgrade from Jefferson to Brandon Aiyuk is a priority. Although Aiyuk is clearly behind Samuel and Kittle on the target priority list, we know he is healthy and he will be on the field for at least 90% of the snaps tonight.
