Yahoo NFL Picks: Week 9 Sunday Night Football

Top SUPERSTAR Options

The SUPERSTAR position will get a 1.5x multiplier on their Yahoo points in the single-game format. Awesemo’s NFL DFS optimizer creates daily fantasy football cheat sheets. Check out who is popping in the Yahoo NFL DFS cheat sheet for the Week 9 Sunday Night Football game.

Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams – $34

The move to Los Angeles has been a good one for Matthew Stafford who has topped 20 Yahoo points in six of his eight games. Even more impressive is that Stafford has seven multi-touchdown games including five with at least three scores. Currently Stafford is third with 309.6 yards passing per game and his 22 touchdowns are behind only the 25 of Tom Brady. Joining forces with Cooper Kupp ($41) has led to tremendous fantasy production for both players.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams – $24

Although Darrell Henderson has not posted a monster fantasy performance yet this season, he has been very steady with 14 Yahoo points in all but one game and 21 in two of his last three. Despite not reaching the century mark on the ground, he is still in the back half of the top 10 with 72.4 yards per game, which would be just shy of a 1,200 yard season in the old 16-game format. Tennessee been dreadful against the run and Henderson also contributes a handful of points in the passing game with metronomic consistency.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans – $25

The Rams have a top ten passing DVOA and even though recent trade acquisition Von Miller will not be making his debut tonight, they are still going to be a tough nut to crack for Ryan Tannehill. Fortunately we should see both Julio Jones ($16) and A.J. Brown ($24) healthy tonight which has been quite a rare occurrence this season. Even without Derrick Henry (knee), Tannehill should still be solid source of fantasy production with a boost with his own rushing ability. While he does not look to run, he certainly is not afraid to do so when the defense loses track of him, and he has posted just shy of one rushing score in his last 16 games. In addition to his talented wideouts, he has a bevy of solid pass-catching tight ends and Jeremy McNichols ($15) out of the backfield.

Yahoo NFL Value Picks

Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams – $16

Keep an eye out for any news about Robert Woods (foot) having any limitations. While he is expected to play, there is no need to push him as the 7-1 Rams are looking to make a deep run in the postseason. Jefferson has been a solid contributor and he should be in line for half a dozen looks tonight. It helps that DeSean Jackson was released last week per his request, though Jefferson was the clear third wide receiver all along.

Jeremy McNichols, Tennessee Titans – $15

Unfortunately, Adrian Peterson is not in the Yahoo player pool, though he will still be cutting into the workload of Jeremy McNichols. Keep in mind that Peterson is now 36, and he has played for five different franchises in the last five seasons. On a positive note, at least he is healthy and should have fresh legs, however, he generally does not participate in the passing game and Tennessee also added D’Onta Foreman who played in six games for the Titans last season. Even without Henry, this is a crowded backfield and McNichols is going to get the first look and he remains the one option to sort of trust.

Final Thoughts

It seems that each of our recent prime time games has brought its own unique wrinkle. From heavy rain to backup quarterbacks to tonight with the best running back in the league being out of the picture it has been a fun puzzle. The salaries on Yahoo are keeping things interesting with the lofty $41 tag for Kupp combined with several viable options in the low-teens. Do not be afraid to leave a few dollars unused tonight in order to strive for a unique roster construction in the large field tournaments.
