NFL Week 13 Yahoo! Million Dollar Baller Picks Using Awesemo’s Premium Rankings (FREE)

Yahoo fantasy football is running a $1,000,000 contest with a $20 entry fee and 40,000 entries for Week 13 of the NFL season, which means they are adding $200,000 to the prize pool. Let’s get into some Yahoo Daily Fantasy Picks for NFL lineups, including Tom Brady, Jonathan Taylor and more.

Week 13 NFL Yahoo Daily Fantasy Strategy & Picks

The critical thing to remember is that Yahoo is a half-PPR site, and the minimum salary is $10, with an average salary per player of $22. This week, Tom Brady is at the top of the salary list at $42. The complete scoring parameters can be found here.

One of the most valuable features of the Awesemo.com premium content is the personal player rankings from Alex Baker, for all of the main sports. The players grade out separately for each DFS site with ratings for both “projected points” and “value,” receiving an A through E report card-style grade. This week, as a special treat, Awesemo is also adding in the “Roster%,” which is the projected percentage a player will be used in the large-field tournaments.

Quarterback

If you have played daily fantasy football on Yahoo or Yahoo fantasy baseball, you know that the strategy is to look for the cheapest quarterback or pitcher that is tolerable so you can look for more secure points and upside elsewhere. In the recommendations below, I will be highlighting several discount options at the other positions so you can build a framework that will allow lineup construction for a top-shelf quarterback, along with his favorite target and still have enough salary cap to run it back with the top option on the opposing team.

Tom Brady: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons – $42 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 6.0%

Once again, Tom Brady is at the top of the salary list and since he does not add to his fantasy production with his legs, this is allowing us to get the future Hall of Famer at single digit popularity. Atlanta has a bottom-five passing DVOA and they are not much better against the run. Antonio Brown is now suspended for three games which keeps the wideout targets concentrated with Chris Godwin ($26) and Mike Evans ($28). Rob Gronkowski ($21) has put up back-to-back volume games with 18 targets for 13 receptions and 194 yards. Plus Leonard Fournette has been decent out of the backfield so this is lining up to be a nice spot for Brady. This is the last dome game for Tom Terrific this season and a great spot to bank some stats as he is currently in the MVP conversation leading the league with 30 passing touchdowns and his 309.4 passing yards are the second most of any quarterback.

Matthew Stafford: Los Angeles Rams vs. Jacksonville Jaguars – $32 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value B, Roster% 14.4%

This is a get right spot for the Rams who have now lost three games in a row. In this stretch Matthew Stafford has been sacked nine times and thrown five interceptions, three of which have been returned for touchdowns. Jacksonville has the worst passing DVOA in the league and even with Stafford dealing with a myriad of minor injuries and Odell Beckham Jr. ($19) and Darrell Henderson ($23) dinged up, Los Angeles should be able to right the ship with their defense and of course Cooper Kupp ($38) who leads the league in targets, receptions, yards, yards after the catch, touchdowns and his 18 catches for 20 or more yards are only second to Justin Jefferson.

Justin Herbert: Los Angeles Chargers at Cincinnati Bengals – $34 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value C, Roster% 6.9%

Sunday will mark the 27th start for Justin Herbert who has been phenomenal in this first season and change. Over his last nine games he had seven multi-touchdown performances. The matchup against Cincinnati could easily turn into a track meet with both teams having shaky defenses along with high powered passing games. Remember the Bengals allowed Mike White to come off the bench and throw for 405 yards and three touchdowns only a few weeks ago. They are also the defense that allowed Baker Mayfield one of his three multiple touchdown games. Herbert can easily be paired with one or more of his receivers or employed as part of a game stack. Keenan Allen ($25) just one touchdown in his last five games, but he has double digit targets in each while averaging a tick shy of 15 Yahoo Fantasy points per appearance in this stretch,

Running Back

We want to keep in mind that while running backs are very important, Yahoo fantasy uses half-PPR, which will not penalize running backs that are not as active in the passing game.

Jonathan Taylor: Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans – $41| Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 30.0%

Last weekend Houston allowed Tevin Coleman, Ty Johnson and Austin Walter to combine for 147 rushing yards and a touchdown on 31 carries. Back in Week 6, Jonathan Taylor rolled up 145 rushing yards and two touchdowns against the Texans. While this is a lofty salary, it is a tremendous fantasy opportunity and there are plenty of bargain options this week.

Alexander Mattison: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions – $18 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value A, Roster% 42.2%

Dalvin Cook is out and the Detroit defense is abysmal. Alexander Mattison likely should be closer to $26-28 for this matchup and he will easily be the most popular running back on Yahoo. Two of Mattison’s last three starts came against the Lions including Week 17 last year and in Week 5 this year. In those games he averaged 23 carries for 104 yards and 5.0 targets for 5.0 receptions and 45.0 yards. He logged a receiving touchdown in each of these games as well as a rushing touchdown in the last matchup. Minnesota is am 8.5 road favorite and we should expect a big workload for Mattison.

Joe Mixon: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Los Angeles Chargers – $34| Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 10.4%

This is a well earned salary for Joe Mixon who has posted 23 or more Yahoo Fantasy points in five of his last six games. In his last two outings against Pittsburgh and at Las Vegas he recorded 58 carries for 288 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. The Chargers have the worst rushing DVOA in the league and are also allowing the most yards per carry. Enjoy!

Wide Receiver

The top-shelf Yahoo fantasy options are typically priced in the low-to-mid-$30 range. Often, they are best paired with their quarterbacks for tournament upside rather than risking downside as solo plays.

Jaylen Waddle: Miami Dolphins vs. New York Giants – $21 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value D, Roster% 16.8%

In addition to the receivers mentioned above with the recommended quarterbacks, we can look to rookie Jaylen Waddle against the New York Giants. In his last two games Waddle has 19 targets for 17 receptions, 202 yards and a score along with a rushing touchdown. Though the touchdowns have been sporadic, the target volume is there and he has double digit fantasy points in five of his last seven games.

Darnell Mooney: Chicago Bears vs. Arizona Cardinals – $17 | Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value B, Roster% 10.1%

It is going to be cold and wet in Chicago on Sunday, but it seems that Darnell Mooney is actually the top option for the Bears, even when Allen Robinson is healthy. In his last four games, Mooney has two receiving touchdowns, two 100 yard games, a rushing touchdown and 39 targets.

Brandon Aiyuk: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks – $18 | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value B, Roster% 16.5%

Raise your hand if you remember what Brandon Aiyuk in the back half of last season when Deebo Samuel was dealing with various injuries. For those of you that forgot, in Weeks 8, 10, 13, 14 and 15 when Aiyuk himself was healthy he averaged 12.4 targets, 7.8 receptions, 90.6 yards and scored four touchdowns. Giddyup!

Tight Ends

Foster Moreau: Las Vegas Raiders vs. Washington Football Team | Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value A, Roster% 30.2%

Darren Waller is out and we have already seen this movie before. In Week 7 when Waller was out against the Eagles, Foster Moreau stepped in and saw six targets bringing all of them in for 60 yards and a score. Of course that is no guarantee for fantasy goodness this week, however, with his near minimum salary and the Raiders averaging the most passing yards in the league, why not join the crowd on this play. There are plenty of other ways we can differentiate our lineups.

George Kittle: San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks – $23 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value C, Roster% 5.0%

Last week George Kittle let us down seeing only two targets. However, with Samuel out, Kittle is now the defacto top receiver for San Francisco. This is a nice matchup for one of the best tight ends in the game. There is not too much else to add.

Defense/Special Teams

This week, there is one top-tier unit and a familiar bargain option.

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Giants – $14 | Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value B, Roster% 17.8%

Mike Glennon will be under center on Sunday for the Giants replacing Daniel Jones (neck). New York is allowing just over two sacks and one turnover per game. Miami has taken care of business with 17 or more Yahoo Fantasy points in three of their last four games. While we cannot predict touchdowns, it is good to see that they have 15 sacks, seven interceptions and three fumble recoveries in this span.

Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers – $12 | Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value C, Roster% 13.6%

This iteration of the Baltimore defense is mediocre at best, however, they are just two dollars off of the minimum salary and they will be facing a long in the tooth Ben Roethlisberger who has struggled this season.
