NFL Week 4 Yahoo! Million Dollar Baller Picks Using Awesemo’s Premium Rankings (FREE)

Yahoo fantasy football is running a $1,000,000 contest with a $20 entry fee and 37,500 entries which means they are adding $250,000 to the prize pool. Generally this flagship daily fantasy tournament does not fill more than 85-90% in the fourth week, which provides extra value for gamers. Let’s get into some Yahoo Daily Fantasy Picks for NFL Week 4, including Alvin Kamara, Travis Kelce and more.

Yahoo Daily Fantasy General Strategy & Picks

The critical thing to remember is that this is a half-PPR site, and the minimum salary is $10, with an average salary per player of $22. This week Derrick Henry is at the top of the pricing list at $41. The complete scoring parameters can be found here.

One of the most valuable features of the Awesemo.com premium content is the personal player rankings from Alex Baker, for all of the main sports. The players grade out separately for each DFS site with ratings for both “projected points” and “value,” receiving an A through E report card-style grade. This week as a special treat Awesemo is also adding in the “Roster%” which is the projected percentage a player will be used in the large field tournaments.

Quarterback

If you have played football on Yahoo or Yahoo fantasy baseball, you know that the strategy is to look for the cheapest quarterback or pitcher that is tolerable so you can look for more secure points and upside elsewhere. In the recommendations below, I will be highlighting several discount options at the other positions so you can build a framework that will allow lineup construction for a top-shelf quarterback along with his favorite target and still have enough salary cap to run it back with the top option on the opposing team.

Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans – $34

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value A, Roster% 30.2%

In Week 2 when the Bills blanked the Dolphins 35-0 Josh Allen threw 33 passes and the team rushed just 30 times with five carries going to the quarterback. Last week against Washington, Buffalo lead by multiple scores for most of the game in a 43-21 shellacking. The team attempted 44 passes with 33 rushes and Allen got four. This week they are heavy favorites against Houston, but even if they race out to a lead it will likely be on Allen’s arm and it just does not seem that running the ball is going to be a priority. That of course could change at any time, but with this favorable salary and with pass catchers Stefon Diggs ($30), Emmanuel Sanders ($19) and Cole Beasley ($17) there are plenty of ways we can roll with multiple Bills in tournaments for extra upside.

Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs – $32

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value A, Roster% 10.7%

Gamers still tend to shy away from quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts in tournaments. The main reason is that with their rushing upside and lack of a true dominant receiver, it becomes harder to find the same team synergy also known as a stack. However, that also tends to keep these quarterbacks popularity in check which enhances their ability to create unique lineup combinations which is key in large field tournaments. Awesemo is projecting Hurts to flirt with 50 rushing yards and 240+ passing yards. While we do not know who is primary pass catcher will be, we can still get some situational synergy by playing a Kansas City player or two in the same lineup. Going with say Travis Kelce ($31) and Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($18) will enable us to potentially capture both air and ground production from the Chiefs on the other side of what is shaping up to be a high scoring affair. If these two teams are trading touchdowns, this trio likely will be in the mix.

Running Back

We want to keep in mind that while running backs are very important, Yahoo fantasy uses half-PPR, which will not penalize running backs that are not as active in the passing game.

Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants – $33

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value B, Roster% 31.0%

This is a very winnable game for the Saints who are favored by a touchdown at home. Their defense has been stout and we have seen coach Sean Payton lean on Alvin Kamara already. This season Kamara has seen 20, 8 and 24 carries and that represents two of the three 20+ carry regular season games of his career. To be fair he also has two 19 carry games, however, the point stands that this is shaping up to be the biggest rushing season of his career. While he does not have a rushing touchdown, he does have two receiving touchdowns demonstrating that he has not lost any of his vaunted versatility.

Najee Harris – Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers – $21

Awesemo Grade: Points B, Value B

Last week rookie Najee Harris did us well in this spot and we should go right back to him even with the 10% salary increase. The 19 targets seemed like a misprint, but he did see that many looks from Ben Roethlisberger last week. Though he did not score, the 14 receptions and 102 receiving yards along with his 14 carries for another 40 yards helped him crest the 20 Yahoo fantasy point threshold. Even if his targets are cut in half, which is still an insane double digit projection, that is in the cards considering that Roethlisberger does indeed look washed up.

Wide Receiver

The top-shelf Yahoo fantasy options are typically priced in the mid-$30 range. Often, they are best paired with their quarterbacks for tournament upside rather than risking downside as solo plays.

Davante Adams – Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – $33

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D

Clearly at this salary we are looking to secure a nice fantasy floor from Davante Adams who is the clear lead option in the Green Bay offense. This is actually his lowest Yahoo salary of the season. Through the first three weeks he saw increasing targets from 7 to 9 to a whopping 18 against San Francisco on Sunday Night Football. There are plenty of punt options available this week that we can treat ourselves to a deluxe option as our lead wide receiver.

D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers at Dallas Cowboys – $20

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value A, Roster% 22.3%

Though he has found the end zone only once, D.J. Moore has been the most productive option in the Panthers passing attack. On the season he is averaging double digit targets and he has at least half a dozen catches and 79+ yards in every game. If he had found himself in the end zone more than once, we would see his salary 20-30% higher. This is an absolute steal and as a Double-A ranking Moore is a core play on Yahoo in all formats on Sunday.

Chester Rogers – Tennessee Titans at New York Jets – $10

Awesemo Grade: Points D, Value B, Roster% 7.0%

Both Julio Jones and A.J. Brown have been ruled out for Week 4. That means the two most targeted pass-catchers in the Titans offense are leaving quite a void. Chester Rogers is actually tied for third on the team with running back Derrick Henry of all people. While the tight ends are likely to get a boost, four different players at that position have seen at least four targets which makes it harder to pinpoint a specific beneficiary. Rogers is an easy choice as a discount dandy and will created excellent flexibility for us to differentiate our lineups elsewhere.

Tight Ends

Travis Kelce – Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers – $31

Awesemo Grade: Points A, Value D, Roster% 32.6%

Anytime Travis Kelce is in the player pool he is going to be in contention as the top option. While he is near the top of the salary list, he has more than earned this honor with his consistent production rivaling that of most wide receivers. In the first three tilts he has at a minimum topped 100+ yards or hauled in a touchdown. There is a chance the Tyreek Hill is not 100% and we could see Kelce to continue to see the a primary share of the target load.

T.J. Hockenson – Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears – $21

Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value A, Roster% 5.2%

After looking like the focal point of the Detroit passing attack, T.J. Hockenson fell off the face of the Earth with only two targets against the Ravens. That should reverse course in this matchup against the Bears after the blistering the fans have been giving last week’s game plan. We are getting a 12% discount from Week 3 for our troubles which is just a bonus.

Defense/Special Teams

This week, there are a couple of intriguing bargain options.

Green Bay Packers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers – $10

Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value B, Roster% 8.0%

Oh boy it has been a rough start for Ben Roethlisberger this season. The 39-year old has been horrible under pressure, missing badly on midrange throws – forced to check down constantly as a result. Heck, last week rookie running back Najee Harris had a team high 19 targets, which was almost a third of all Big Ben’s pass attempts. Even though the Packers are a bottom five team in both rushing and passing DVOA, at the Yahoo minimum salary they are very much in play. Though Roethlisberger is going to be in the Hall of Fame, at this point he is a statuesque signal-caller with a questionable arm.

Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears – $10

Awesemo Grade: Points C, Value B, Roster% 8.0%

Bears coach Matt Nagy is being coy about his starting quarterback, however, that does not matter to us. If it’s Andy Dalton great, if it’s Justin Fields even better. Last week the game plan kept Fields in the pocket where he was sacked nine times by Cleveland. Over the last two weeks the Lions have notched four sacks against Baltimore and three against Green Bay. Considering those were mobile, experienced quarterbacks they should be in line for a nice game against a sitting duck behind a shaky Chicago offensive line.
