Yahoo Week 16 Grades and Values for NFL Daily Fantasy

Awesemo has a ton of great tools and NFL DFS rankings to tackle all the largest contests in DFS. This article will go through and highlight some of the week’s highest-projected Yahoo NFL picks at each position on the Week 16 main slate. It will also provide insight into rostership projections and provide some other matchup information for optimal Yahoo NFL picks for daily fantasy lineups each week.

Week 16 Yahoo NFL Picks, Grades & Values

Top Graded QB: Justin Herbert $37 | Grades: A, Values: C

The Chargers are -10.5 favorites this week and have a 28.0 implied team total. In short, we should be expecting them to score some points and they may even be without the services of their top running back in Austin Ekeler this week (Covid). The Chargers will throw the ball regardless of Ekeler’s status as they average over 39 attempts per game and it’s turned Justin Herbert into a bit of a fantasy ATM machine. Herbert’s now gone over 21.0 Yahoo points in five straight games and grades out with the second-highest points projection on Awesemo this week in terms of quarterbacks available on the main slate — and should be viewed as a great pay-up option here. Expect another solid game from the second-year player.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 19.6%

Top Value QB: Matt Ryan | Grades: C, Values: A

In terms of value plays there’s not a whole ton to get excited about under $30 this week on Yahoo, but one name that does stick out is the Falcons Matt Ryan. Ryan has still shown the ability to excel against weaker competition in 2021 and he grades out this week with the best points projection of any quarterback with a salary of $25 or lower on Yahoo this week. The Lions have allowed a league worst 7.7 yards per attempt against this year and have ceded eight games with at least 250+ yards and a touchdown to opposing quarterbacks. Using Ryan for savings in Week 16 is at least something to consider in bigger fields where he’s trending with under 5% rostership projections.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 2.7%

Top Graded RB: James Robinson $26 | Grades: B, Values: C

The Jaguars play the Jets this week which means all of their active offensive starters will have a shot at big games. The player in the best spot though is undoubtedly James Robinson who bounced back last week with 75 yards, three catches and a touchdown. The bigger workload (21-touches) was encouraging for Robinson who had been seeing his volume dry up under Urban Meyer. The Jets have now allowed the most touchdowns, fantasy points and second most yards in the league to opposing running backs this season and Robinson ranks out with the second best points projection on the main slate at running back this week.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 21.8%

Top Value RB: Alexander Mattison $16 | Grades: A, Values: A

The Vikings Dalvin Cook has been ruled out this week (Covid) which means we get yet another extreme value start out of Alexander Mattison. Mattison has already racked up three games with 19.0 or more Yahoo points (all which came when Cook was out) and has averaged 24 carries over his three starts this week (again, all without Cook). He grades out as the top projected running back in Week 16 on Awesemo and, with the mid-week downgrade of Cook to out, his $16 salary makes him one of the most extreme values in DFS this year. He’ll be popular, but better to treat him as a “free space” than try to fade this clear smash spot.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 54%

Top Graded WR: Justin Jefferson $32 | Grades: A, Values: D

One member of the Vikings offense who could go overlooked (and makes for a good pivot play if you do fade Mattison) is Justin Jefferson. The Vikings wide receiver ranks out third in the projections for wide receivers this week on the main slate but also comes in with a salary that’s $9 cheaper than Cooper Kupp’s. Jefferson and the Vikings are also +3.0 underdogs here and taking on a Rams team whose opponents have averaged 37.7 pass attempts, per game, this season. With current rostership projections, Jefferson may actually come in at one-third the rostership of Cooper Kupp and even less that of his teammate, Alexander Mattison. He’s a good GPP pivot and a player with strong projections and grades this week on Awesemo.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 12.4%

Top Value WR:  Brandin Cooks $16 | Grades: B, Values: A

There’s a couple of good value options this week at wide receiver we could discuss, but you have to like how Brandin Cooks has looked recently with Davis Mills back at quarterback (and playing better). Cooks has now gone for over 100 yards in each of his last two games and has seen 21 targets over that same span as well. The Texans top wide-out plays a Chargers defense here too who has allowed 100+ yards a touchdown to an opposing wide-out in four of their last seven games. Cooks ranks out with the second-best value score on Awesemo this week at wide receiver and would be a great value IF he can pass Covid protocols this weekend. Watch the injury report and make sure to include Cooks in your rosters if he does get clear.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 17.6%

Top Graded TE: Rob Gronkowski $24 | Grades: A, Values: D

The Buccaneers will likely without Leonard Fournette (out), Chris Godwin (out) and Mike Evans (questionable) this week which obviously means the remaining receivers are going to see a pop in targets. Rob Gronkowski has had a tough two weeks stretch from an efficiency standpoint as he’s converted just seven of his last 20-targets into catches. Still, Gronk has an easier match-up this week against Carolina and was already averaging 9-targets a game the last three weeks with the aforementioned trio of Buccaneers skill players in the lineup. He grades out with the second-best points projection at tight-end this week and makes for a strong pay-up option.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 16.0%

Top Value TE: Cole Kmet $14 | Grades: C, Values: D

There’s not a ton of value plays to love at tight-end this week but one player who does deserve a little recognition is Cole Kmet. The Bears tight-end posted the second-highest yardage total of his career last week (71) and has averaged seven targets in his last two games. The Bears will likely be starting Nick Foles here, but he’s also got a history of using the tight-end and slot position. Kmet grades out with a top-10 value score and the second highest points projection at tight-end, of anyone under $15 in salary. He’s a solid punt play for Week 16.

Projected NFL DFS Rostership: 2.0%
