DraftKings & FanDuel Centers

Nathan MacKinnon– COL vs MIN – $6,900

MacKinnon is always a contender for the nightly shot bonus. His projections suggest upwards of nearly five shots a contest at home and almost 1.5 real-world points per game. Minnesota was a mess on the road last season and allowed 3.25 goals per game away from home over the second half. People forget that MacKinnon had 60 points in his first 39 games last season. This is another excellent matchup among many on the night.

With the upper-tier on this large of a slate, there will be many, many plays. MacKinnon’s DraftKings price makes him one of the best just for value alone. Some other suggestions from the upper-tier have to include Steven Stamkos and Aleksander Barkov for starters. After that, there is Sean Monahan, who was quite productive with Johnny Gaudreau and that top Calgary line. Even in Nashville, there is Matt Duchene to look at, who had three assists in game one and has another good matchup against Detroit tonight. Finally, Jack Eichel‘s line against a tired New Jersey team is worth a look.

Marcus Johansson – BUF vs NJD – $3,300

There is a good deal of value on Saturday night to choose from as well. Please note the spread out pricing on both DraftKings and FanDuel. This is important. Johansson will have motivation on his mind playing New Jersey. Also, the Devils come off blowing a four-goal lead to the Winnipeg Jets of all teams. This pick is a high-risk cash and GPP play but the price is one that can be made to spend up into the higher tiers.

Other options in the value range on Saturday night are plentiful. Lars Eller is hovering below $4,000 again for Washington and could get top-six minutes. Charlie Coyle and JT Compher are options from the middle-six of Boston and Arizona respectively. There will be a boatload of changes made before lock tonight. Lastly, there is the added luxury of no afternoon games so rosters lock firmly around 7:00 PM ET.

DraftKings & FanDuel Wingers

Leon Draisaitl– EDM vs LAK – $6,300

Do not look at the over/under and get scared off tonight. Draisaitl enjoys a prime matchup because he will be mixed between the second line and the first-unit power play. Yes, his price is $8,100 on FanDuel but even that is not cost-prohibitive. The winger had a goal, two assists, and six shots on goal in game one. He may come close to the shots again as Los Angeles bled shots at a rate of over 33 per 60 for the second half of last season. The Kings’ penalty kill was also 24th in that span. Did we mention that Jonathan Quick is likely starting? Finally, Draisaitl will likely not have to worry about facing the Anze Kopitar line which helps.

There are several ways to go with stacking tonight but only risk the Draisaitl-McDavid double if running the late slate. Some mini-stack possibilities could include Barkov-Huberdeau, Kucherov-Stamkos, Monahan-Gaudreau (one can add Lindholm for pricing purposes), and Eichel-Reinhart just to name a few.

Alex Ovechkin – WSH @ NYI – $7,400

If there was a person more suited for the shot and point bonuses, it would be Ovechkin. Once upon a time, the winger could easily average over five shots a night. Though he does not do that quite as often now, the left-winger still can execute at that level for segments of time. The Capitals forward should enjoy a plus matchup again tonight against the Capitals, whom he averages just over a point a game against. Yes, he is over $8.000 on FanDuel as well, but he should be rostered in places.

Ovechkin is advisable as a one-off and more for cash games. If one feels inclined, there is the option to stack him with a John Carlson perhaps. With so many choices on the wing tonight, the idea is to just go with what works best and not overthink things.

For value wingers, it is best to look at Victor Olofsson, Jason Zucker (DraftKings only), Jakub Vrana, and Tanner Pearson. These are players probably priced too low early in the season that can be taken advantage of (because of the large slate). Even Nikita Gusev is ridiculously priced from New Jersey tonight at just $3,500.

DraftKings & FanDuel Defensemen

Alex Edler – VAN @ CGY – $4,900

Edler is like a swiss-army knife of fantasy hockey. He can put up enough peripheral points to be viable on nights where it looks like he does not do much. The fact that he is only mid-priced helps on Saturday night as well. Most forget that Calgary can score a ton at home but can give up three goals a night there too. They give and receive well. Edler should be able to rack up enough blocks to be around the block bonus, take a few shots on net, and maybe even chip in an assist.

There are a plethora of defensive options from Thomas Chabot to Torey Krug (just $4,600 on DraftKings). With the spread-out pricing being so soft, it is a plug and play type of night, especially from the blueline. Even Rasmus Ristolainen is just $3,800 on DraftKings if one wants to take a swing value-wise.

Mikhail Sergachev – TBL @ FLA – $3,600

Sergachev can get off to a hot start easily and did just that in game one with three assists. Now, he may not hit those bonuses too often but the defenseman will be put in positions to succeed early on. If one does not feel like spending up for Victor Hedman, Sergachev or maybe even Kevin Shattenkirk become viable alternatives. Do not be afraid to look on the other side at Keith Yandle who is also low-priced on Saturday like many defensemen.

DraftKings & FanDuel Stacks

COL 1 – Landeskog MacKinnon Rantanen

Simply, the line played they never needed a training camp. The scary part is that MacKinnon missed at least two or three wide-open chances in the first period alone. As it was, Mikko Rantanen scored twice and showed no signs of rust whatsoever. The Avalanche top-line draws a great matchup against Minnesota who was blitzed by Nashville in the third period on Thursday night. If Minnesota thought Nashville’s speed was scary, they are in for a rude awakening. This Colorado line could easily tilt possession in the 55-57% range and generate 5-7 high-danger scoring chances.

ANA 2 – Rakell Steel Silfverberg

It is okay to slide back into a cheaper bracket tonight. Yes, Rakell and Silfverberg did not do much in the scoring department against Arizona but they were all over the ice and Sam Steel complements them well. Anaheim gets a tired San Jose team and one could use either line for stacking purposes. This goes for the late slate especially. The idea is to find value and this is a line along with WSH 2 that has potential. Other second lines of note include Buffalo, Nashville’s (Forsberg-Duchene), and Vancouver’s on this slate.

NYR 1 – Panarin Zibanejad Buchnevich

Going to have to pick on the Senators’ weak defensive corps here. The Rangers’ top line is too good, and even on a night like this, New York’s second line may be one to try and use in a lineup here or there. Ottawa, in all phases, was so bad against Toronto that they gave up around 40 shots. No one is saying the Rangers’ defense is much better which is why looking at Ottawa’s first line with Thomas Chabot could be viable as well for those on more of a budget.
