Like Monday, there is another seven-gamer for today’s NHL DFS slate. And just like yesterday, there are plenty of big names and what look like a few obvious popular spots. Connor McDavid and the Oilers are surprisingly the only team on the slate skating on a back-to-back, which is something to consider as well before just forcing the game’s best player. For this article, we’ll be using the Awesemo expert projections and Top Stacks Tool to find the best NHL DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups on Tuesday, March 30.

NHL DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel | March 30

NHL DFS Pick: Center

Patrice Bergeron (BOS vs. NJ)

FanDuel – $7,300

DraftKings – $7,900

Even though Boston has seemed to struggle this year from time to time, Bergeron has continued to put up individual numbers. He comes into Tuesday’s slate with a Corsi-for of 60.4%, which is the best number he’s put up since the 2016-17 season. A matchup with the Devils may be exactly what the doctor ordered, as the Bruins have struggled offensively. The Devils rank in the bottom third of the league in expected goals allowed per 60 at both even strength and on the penalty kill, and they are allowing the eighth-most high-danger chances to opponents.

At just $7,300 on FanDuel, Bergeron is priced far too low regardless of the Bruins’ struggles this year. As the third-highest-projected center and seventh-highest player per Awesemo’s projections, there’s no need to overthink this one.

Others: Brayden Point, Roope Hintz

NHL DFS Pick: Winger

Martin Necas (CAR vs. CHI)

FanDuel – $5,200

DraftKings – $4,700

Necas has been on an absolute tear for arguably the entire season with 28 points in 30 games, spending much of his time outside of the top six for the Hurricanes. But since the injury to Vincent Trocheck, Necas has been moved around and is now up to the top line, which has paid even more dividends. Since that time (eight games), he has tallied 9 points and 23 shots with just one game seeing less than 20 minutes of ice time. The Blackhawks defense started out this season surprising many with good numbers, but those are of the past and they have put up much more expected numbers; all of their defensive scoring metrics rank 24th or worse. At 11.92 FanDuel and 9.39 DraftKings projected points per Awesemo’s projections, Necas is a fantastic point-per-dollar play with giant upside.

Others: Justin Huberdeau, Brendan Gallagher, David Pastrnak

NHL DFS Pick: Defense

Shea Weber (MTL vs. EDM)

FanDuel – $4,800

DraftKings – $5,200

There are simple rules not to break in NHL DFS, and playing cheap defensemen on a top power play against a terrible penalty kill is one of them. Weber still has a big shot and gets a big opportunity in the Canadiens’ first game since March 20 due to COVID protocols. He is not the big producer of his glory days, but his shot output plus blocks of 3.62 per game makes for a solid floor with upside for an underpriced player getting a great matchup. The Oilers’ penalty kill has been bottom two nearly all season in expected goals allowed and has shown zero improvement even over the last 10 games. With the ownership that will be placed on guys in similar spots like Matt Grzelcyk and Keith Yandle, pivoting up to the Canadiens’ defensemen is a nice way to differentiate in all formats with basically zero projected ownership at 0.1%.

Top Goalie

Calvin Pickard (DET vs. FLA)

FanDuel – $6,700

DraftKings – $6,900

Scoring for goalies is very different on both sites, but playing cheap goalies offers more upside than an expensive favorite coupled with lesser ownership. Now, this sounds all too good to be true for NHL DFS, but in a spot against Florida, who is missing Aleksander Barkov and Aaron Ekblad, Pickard is a gamble worth taking. At near bare minimum on both sites, a win is not entirely necessary to hit 3x his value if the Red Wings defense can keep the Panthers under three goals. If the Wings can stay out of the box with their struggling penalty kill, Pickard has a strong floor and upside.

Top Stacks

BOS1

Brad Marchand – Patrice Bergeron – David Pastrnak

Getting back together after Marchand found out he was a false positive for COVID, the Bruins’ top line gets a great matchup with leverage per Awesemo’s Top Stack Tool. The Devils, as mentioned earlier, have been very poor at all strengths, ranking no better than 23rd in any defensive metrics.

EDM1

Leon Draisaitl – Connor McDavid – Jesse Puljujarvi

Any time the best player in the world is at any kind of reduced ownership, players have to take notice. With projected ownership under 1% for this line on both sites and a 5% chance of being a top-two stack per the Top Stacks Tool, it’s great leverage and extremely simple to get over the field. It is unclear what to expect from the Canadiens since they have not played for 10 days, but with poor recent defensive numbers and possibly some rust, this sets up quite nicely for the Oilers’ stacked top line.
