Top Stack
Jets vs. Kraken: Burakovsky/Schwartz/Dunn Stack $13,000 DraftKings | $ 16,600 FanDuel
Stacks revolving around the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Minnesota Wild will all be very popular on today’s slate, but the Seattle Kraken have the potential to lead owners to a massive payout in GPPs.
Winnipeg has allowed just 2.38 goals against per game this season, which makes them far from an obvious candidate to fade on Sunday’s slate on an average night. However, the reason Winnipeg has allowed so few goals has been the otherworldly play of Connor Hellebuyck in goal. That said, Hellebuyck should rest in favor of David Rittich in this back-to-back spot.
Rittich has had a poor start to this season, with 11.9 goals saved above expected (GSAx) and a .885 save percentage, and those marks put him on a nearly identical pace to replicate his .887 save percentage and -7.5 GSAx from a year ago. Winnipeg’s 2.76 expected goals against per 60 are 13th worst in the league, so in a road back-to-back spot with Rittich in goal, the Jets will likely allow a lot of shots.
Each of Andre Burakovsky, Jaden Schwartz and Vince Dunn project to have less than 17% ownership, which is why this is such a quality, sneaky stack. All three play on Seattle’s top power play, while Burakovsky and Schwartz both skate on the same unit on the Kraken’s second offensive line. The correlation of this stack is excellent.
Considering the realistic chance the Kraken score five or more goals in tonight’s contest, this stack holds sky-high upside for an excellent price. That will allow owners to target some other big names on this board.
Goaltender
Red Wings vs. Rangers: Igor Shesterkin $8,500 DraftKings | $ 7,900 FanDuel
Igor Shesterkin gets an elite matchup at home against a Coyotes team that is far from an offensive powerhouse for the time being. It’s a safe bet to say Shesterkin is going to record a win while allowing two goals or fewer on Sunday. A lack of shots is a realistic concern and likely caps Shesterkin’s ceiling to an extent, but with ownership on FanDuel and DraftKings still projecting to be under 30%, Shesterkin is an excellent high-floor option.
Considering Shesterkin’s very livable salary in a great matchup, it is surprising to see ownership so low on a slate with very few appealing targets goaltender wise.
The Coyotes have generated just 2.79 goals per game this season, even while outscoring their expected goals for mark by 4.76. Arizona’s barren offensive roster is not likely to outscore its expected goals rate big picture by any means, and Shesterkin is clearly one of the safest targets in the league for DFS netminders.
Sleeper
Capitals vs. Lightning: Sonny Milano $3,600 DraftKings | 3,800 FanDuel
Sonny Milano has managed 4 points over his last two games and was dominant Friday against Tampa Bay, with two goals and an assist. Milano is set to remain in a strong position to produce, playing on Washington’s second offensive line and second power play. With less than 1% ownership, he offers a ton of upside at a very modest price. Stacking with linemate Dylan Strome is a strong option, but considering Milano’s price and ownership, he is a solid standalone option to help round out squads.
