Covid protocol has been making a strong onset through the NHL in the past week or so. Keeping an eye on news is imperative to succeeding at NHL DFS. This Power Play article will use Awesemo’s Premium NHL Tools to help dole out the NHL DFS advice to help with building lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. The Awesemo NHL fantasy projections and ownership projections are two of the best tools to utilize when constructing stacks and making the optimal NHL DFS picks. Let us go position by position and pinpoint some of the top plays and stacks for Friday, Feb. 11.

NHL DFS Picks, Top Stacks & Lineup Optimizer Plays

Center

Roope Hintz (DAL vs WPG): DraftKings – $7,200 | FanDuel – $7,800

Hintz started the year out extremely slow, but there were other things that played into that, such as Covid situations and the Stars not playing games consistently. Hintz has been playing at a point-per-game pace lately and the Stars’ top line has been one of the best in hockey. The pivot has five multi-point games in the last eight games out. He is a phenomenal playmaker that can distribute the puck very well. The Stars’ top line will likely see the Mark Scheifele line most of the night, who struggles on the defensive side of things. Winnipeg is also without Nikolaj Ehlers and possibly Pierre Luc-Dubois, which hurts their depth a ton. This game looks ripe for the Stars.

Roope Hintz is one of the top five centers showing up in the Awesemo NHL lineup optimizer and fantasy hockey projections today. For all of our free NHL DFS picks tonight, check out the DraftKings fantasy hockey cheat sheet and FanDuel fantasy hockey cheat sheet.

Jared McCann (SEA @ ANA): DraftKings – $6,100 | FanDuel – $5,800

McCann and the Kraken have not been a target this season because they have been decent at limiting chances and their ceiling has not really been high enough. They are averaging 2.6 goals a game, which is 25th in the league. The top line, led by McCann, has been very good metrics-wise and they have a decent matchup tonight. With a short slate and some inflated ownership on two of the best teams to target, it is important to find some contrarian takes. The Ducks have had a decent year as they work through their rebuild, but their last month has been bad. They are 26th in expected goals against, 30th in shots against, 30th in scoring chances allowed per 60 and 29th in high danger scoring chances allowed. Their penalty kill has been just as bad over the last month as well, at 30th in expected goals against, 27th in shots against and 22nd in goals against. McCann and the top line will most likely see the Adam Henrique line, whose numbers are diminishing as the sample gets larger.

Winger

Nikita Kucherov (TB @ ARI): DraftKings – $8,300 | FanDuel – $9,800

Kucherov missed three games due to Covid protocol and did not skip a beat in his return against the Avalanche on Thursday night. He led Lightning forwards in ice time, with just under 21 minutes. He also managed to light the lamp and put eight shots on goal. The Coyotes are one of the worst teams in the league and there will likely be inflated ownership on all the Lightning tonight because of the short four-game slate. The ownership is not enough to avoid playing them, though. Sometimes the chalk is the chalk for a reason. This matchup does not get much better for the Lighting, even on the hind end of a back-to-back. Kucherov and crew should be in for a night full of offense.

Jason Robertson (DAL vs WPG): DraftKings – $5,900 | FanDuel – $8,400

Robertson has been nothing short of spectacular in what is considered his sophomore season. Roberts has 43 points in 36 games this year. He is two points away from his last year’s total, and in 15 games less. Over the last ten games, Robertson has averaged over a point per game and three shots on net. Tonight should be a paced-up game with plenty of chances for the youngster to find the back of the net. Winnipeg can bring the offense as well, but their defensive metrics have struggled all year, ranking 27th in expected goals against, 29th in shots against and 29th in high danger chances. The real kicker is that the Jets have been spending a ton of time in the box over the past month (5:18). Their penalty kill has been awful as well over the past ten games, with a 74% kill rate. This sets up nicely for a Dallas top-line stack even looking at the line matching. Robertson should match up with the Scheifele line, who struggles defensively metrics-wise.

Defensemen

Victor Hedman (TB @ ARI): DraftKings – $7,100 | FanDuel – $7,400

Hedman becomes the target if you are looking to pay up or have the salary to get an elite defenseman. Hedman averages over 26 minutes of ice time and he plays in every situation. Over the last 10 games, the blueliner has tallied 11 points while averaging four shots/blocks per game. The added emphasis for tonight is that Arizona is an awful team with an awful penalty kill. With Hedman quarterbacking the top power play, all offense will funnel through him.

John Klingberg (DAL vs WPG): DraftKings – $4,900 | FanDuel – $5,100

Klingberg has not been a very offensive-minded defenseman with only one goal on the season, but he is a good facilitator and has eight points in the last ten games. The main focus on going for Klingberg is because he is a top-line blueliner that quarterbacks the top power play unit. Winnipeg has been taking a ton of penalties over the past month and their penalty kill has fallen off to 28th in the league. Getting exposure to the Stars’ top line is a priority tonight, so try to work him in a couple of lineups. If you are looking at the Stars’ second line as a contrarian take, then looking to a guy like Miro Heiskanen would be ideal. Heiskanen has a higher ceiling than Klingberg, but he correlates more with Jamie Benn and Dennis Gurianov on the second unit.
