Let’s dive in to tonight’s slate:
For line stack info, check out Jake Hari’s article.
Skaters:
Derek Stepan Arizona Coyotes: Grade: A. DraftKings value: A, FanDuel value: B
The Coyotes are on the road and the have a low-implied total tonight, but the top line is still good value, getting 20+ minutes a game against a team giving up the most shots against in the NHL this season. The Coyotes number one centre gets to play with Clayton Keller and on the PP1. He’s averaging a 57.4 CF% this season and just under five shots per game. Expect him to be just 6-7% owned, to boot.
Derick Brassard, Pittsburgh Penguins. Grade: B, DraftKings value: B, FanDuel value: A
Brassard gets his chance riding shotgun with Crosby and Guentzel tonight on a team with an implied total of four goals. Brassard’s offensive numbers aren’t great, but he was playing a shutdown role, starting just 34% of his shifts in the offensive zone. The former 60-point man offers more offensive upside than the recent wingers skating on the Penguins top line.
Goalies
Devan Dubnyk: Grade: A, DraftKings value: A, FanDuel value: B
Yes, don’t put both Stepan and Dubnyk in the same lineup, but this game could easily go the Wild’s way as well. With Minnesota giving up a tonne of shots and the Coyotes showing little to no finish this year (they’ve converted a league worst zero high danger chances this season) that puts Dubnyk in a prime spot to get save points and a win tonight as a -160 home favorite. He has a .934 sv% this year.
If you want to go full contrarian in large GPPs, Anders Nilsson (E,E,D) is a streaky goalie who has won back-to-back starts over two potent offenses in the past week. He’ll be in tough tonight against Pittsburgh on the road, so obviously the odds aren’t great.
Super-low owned GPP fliers
If you’ve got that lineup that you love, but need to squeeze in another super-cheap option to make it work, here are a couple options:
Adam Gaudette, Canucks. Grade: D, DraftKings value: A, FanDuel Value: A
The former Hobey Baker winner steps right into a second line role with the Canucks, with Elias Pettersson out for 7-10 days. He’ll likely get 15-17 minutes skating between Nikolay Goldobin and Loui Eriksson tonight. He sports a 2-2-4 line in five AHL games this season.
Brad Hunt, Knights: Grade: C, DraftKings Value: B, FanDuel Value: B
Daily Faceoff has Brad Hunt listed as playing on the Vegas PP1 tonight. It’s a bit of speculation, based off of one reporter who may or may not be a beat writer. Still in GPPs, it’s probably worth the risk. It’s always tough to powerplay info during pre-game skates, but the situation is worth monitoring. If he is on PP1, he’s easily the best value defenceman on the slate tonight
