There is a whole lot of NBA playoff action today, including a trio of games tonight. One can’t-miss matchup pits the Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics. How will TD Garden welcome Nets guard Kyrie Irving with a postseason atmosphere? While this column may not have the answer to that question, it does include an NBA player props prediction for Irving, as well as odds and picks from each of the other games on Friday’s NBA betting slate.
Yesterday’s NBA Player Props Recap
We swept the board on Thursday, nailing each of our three featured NBA player props. Tyler Herro stayed just under the 10.5-point threshold, and Dennis Schroder squeaked over the NBA betting line of 3.5 total assists. Our plus-money odds pick on Aaron Gordon to come in under 5.5 rebounds also hit.
NBA Betting Prediction: NBA Player Props | May 28
Alec Burks Over 1.5 Made 3-Pointers
Burks missed a great chunk of the regular season with an injury. He returned down the stretch, and Tom Thibodeau hasn’t been shy about playing Burks in the first two games of the playoffs. After logging 26 minutes and finishing with 27 points in Game 1, Burks saw another 30 minutes of action in Game 2. His shooting was a whole lot cooler in the Knicks’ win, as he went just 4-for-13 from the floor and 1-for-5 from 3-point range. That being said, the minutes and shot attempts are encouraging when looking at his NBA player props for Friday’s game.
After attempting five triples in each of the first two games of this series, there’s reason to believe Burks will once again get a handful of looks from beyond the arc tonight. The NBA player props line on his total made 3-pointers has been adjusted from 2.5 ahead of Game 2 to 1.5 for tonight. Burks shot 41.5% from long range on the season, albeit in a limited sample size. While the Hawks joined the Knicks in being a top-three defense at defending the arc, Burks is one of the better sharpshooters in the league today. He should bounce back fine from a 1-for-5 performance. Play over 1.5 made triples, even with the NBA betting odds requiring some juice to be laid.
Kyrie Irving Under 4.5 Rebounds
It is bound to be a wild scene in Boston tonight. The Celtics desperately need a win in Game 3 to keep their season alive for at least a little while longer. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving and his Nets teammates would undoubtedly love to get through the first round as quickly as possible. Game 1 wasn’t very close, and Game 2 an even larger blowout in Brooklyn’s favor. Irving also held form individually when it came to rebounding, grabbing six in each of the first two games. Although that number clearly exceeds tonight’s NBA player props line of 4.5 total boards, the betting value may actually lie in the odds for him to finish under.

In actuality, Irving’s rebounding performances in each game this series thus far exceeded what we were accustomed to from him this season. He averaged 4.8 rebounds per game on the year, a mark that sits a whole lot closer to the betting line. The Celtics were a top-12 rebounding team this season which could make it tougher for Brooklyn’s guards to have a sustained impact on the glass. With a raucous home crowd behind them, Boston could very well control the hustle plays in Game 3 on Friday. Irving will grab a few boards, but plus-money odds on under 4.5 are well worth a play.
Reggie Jackson Over 1.5 Assists
Other than superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, Reggie Jackson was the only Clippers player to score in double figures in the team’s Game 2 loss. He saw 30 minutes of playing time compared to just 23 for Patrick Beverley. It is debatable as to whether Jackson will see that large of a workload again on Friday. However, he doesn’t necessarily need to be on the floor for a massive amount of minutes to clear the NBA player props line of 1.5 total assists.
Even with the betting odds asking for some extra juice to be laid, the Awesemo NBA Player Props Tool is still in favor of this pick. Jackson averaged 3.1 assists per game in 23.0 minutes on the season. He dished a pair in Game 2 and also distributed three in just 21 minutes of action in Game 1. It is somewhat surprising to see the line staying put at 1.5. The Clippers are officially in desperation mode tonight. Game 2 was proof that even when Leonard and George go off, it still isn’t enough to put this team over the top. Los Angeles will take any production it can get on Friday, no matter who steps up to provide it. Jackson should be able to clear his NBA player props total assists line.
