The U.S. Open is underway at Torrey Pines, and the 2020 Euro Championships, NHL and NBA playoffs all are heating up. This means a ton of potential betting picks on any given day, and this doesn’t even include tennis, MLB and MMA, which are all also available in the betting markets. Although the goal is always to capture value and find inefficiencies in the market, there is also some room to take shots on higher upside type bets. Parlays are certainly a worse bet than a straight wager, but they offer the chance to win a lot of money while only wagering a small amount. Obviously, the chance of success is much lower considering it requires winning multiple different wagers to cash the ticket. Think of this in DFS terms as cash vs. GPP, where the lotto tournament may not be the best structure/rake but give you that chance for a major score. They are also a fantastic sweat and the entertainment value for trying for a big score is always a good time. Let’s take a chance and roll the dice with a three-team parlay that starts tonight and goes into the weekend.

3-Leg Parlay Pick: Jazz -1.5 (-105), 76ers ML (-155), France ML (-350): +312
This is a somewhat juiced three-leg parlay paying just north of 3-1. The Jazz kick things off in must-win mode after losing control of the series with a disappointing Game 5 effort. The big news in this series is the loss of Kawhi Leonard and how the Clippers can continue to survive without him. Paul George was fantastic in Game 5, and the rest of the Clippers stepped up to help fill the void left by their leader.
Looking over the Game 5 box score, nothing really stands out, and both teams relied heavily on their starting units. Not much should change tonight, except that Donovan Mitchell will be more effective in a game with Utah’s backs against the wall. Simply put, Utah is clearly the better team given the Clippers’ situation, and this spread is basically a pick-’em at -105.
The second leg of the parlay is also from a game tonight, with Joel Embiid and the 76ers also facing elimination. As surprising as it was to see Utah lose Game 5, it was even more shocking to see the Hawks go into Philadelphia and steal a pivotal win. They outscored Philadelphia 40-19 in the fourth quarter and now get a chance at home to eliminate the 76ers. Despite the struggles, Embiid should do enough to force Game 7. One storyline that’s emerging is Ben Simmons and his inability to make free throws, which is causing a Hack-a-Simmons situation. That will not suddenly change tonight, but if it does, it will go a long way to helping get this back to Philadelphia.
More importantly than Simmons’ free throws is his defense on Trae Young, which is another key metric tonight. In Game 5, Young had 19 free-throw attempts and 39 points. If Simmons can keep him in check, and if the Sixers can get anything out of their bench (just 13 points in Game 5), they will do enough tonight to push this to Game 7. The spread is -3, but the -155 odds on the moneyline are much better.

The last leg is a Saturday matchup between France and Hungary. As the line indicates, France is in a higher tier and is expected to win comfortably. The only positive for Hungary is it is at home, but that’s not going to be enough in this spot. Portugal beat Hungary 3-0 to open the group, while France got it done against Germany in Munich 1-0. This group is brutal, and every team is going to take advantage of the 3 points that Hungary offers in the easiest matchup by far. Hungary should finish with 0 points in their group, and France should comfortably roll to close out the three-team parlay.
