NCAAB Picks Today: Elite 8 College Basketball Predictions
Best NCAAB Picks: Miami +6.5
After defeating USC, Auburn and Iowa State, Miami has punched its ticket to the Elite 8 against Kansas. A 6.5-point underdogs, Miami looks like a strong play against the spread. In this matchup, neither team plays with much size. Miami ranks 122nd in effective height, while Kansas checks in at 138th. The Hurricanes play through their veteran guards Isaiah Wong, Kameron McGusty and Charlie Moore, which matchup up well against Kansas. Kansas does rank 58th in overall defensive efficiency, but Miami has climbed to 18th in overall offense in the country. Miami’s elite guards shoot the ball well enough to overcome matchup, but the Hurricanes pose a unique problem on defense. This Hurricanes team forces turnovers at an elite rate, evidenced by their play already this tournament. Miami has forced at least 13 turnovers in each of their three games, which could be a major issue here. Kansas ranks outside the top 150 in turnovers committed, which bodes well for Miami. Kansas has multiple advantages themselves in terms of rebounding and its own offense against a horrific Miami defense. With that said, Miami should be able to keep it close enough here to cover the 6.5 points.

Best NCAAB Picks: Saint Peter’s vs North Carolina – Under 137
Perhaps the best Cinderella story since George Mason’s run to the Final Four in 2006, Saint Peter’s has knocked off Kentucky, Murray State and now Purdue. The Peacocks are catching 8 points here, but the 137-point total looks more enticing. Saint Peter’s plays at a slow pace, averaging 69.2 possessions per game. However, the Peacocks have slowed even more in recent play. Saint Peters’ hasn’t played to a pace above 68.7 possessions in any tournament game and have been below 66 possessions in each of their last two games. North Carolina has played up-tempo all year, averaging 72.8 possessions per game. However, they’ve have been slowed by opponents on multiple occasions, including two of its last three games. Against UCLA and Virginia Tech, North Carolina fell below a 67-possession pace. Additionally, North Carolina’s 30th-ranked offense faces a brutal matchup against Saint Peter’s 11th-ranked defense. Historically, Saint Peter’s has the best defensive efficiency of any 15-seed in the last 15 years and it has shown on the floor. North Carolina does have a major size advantage against the Peacocks, which raises concerns. However, overall stout defensive play and a slow pace should be enough to keep this below the 137-point total here.
