Cole K’s Best PGA Bets Today: 2022 Masters Picks & Predictions

As the calendar flips to April and the smell of spring begins to infiltrate the air, it can only mean one thing … the Masters is this weekend. The 86th Masters will take place over the weekend from Augusta National in Augusta, Ga., with the first tee time slated for 8 a.m. ET Thursday morning. Rightfully so, Tiger Woods has dominated the majority of coverage this week, and although many fans are pulling for Tiger and his +108 odds to make the cut, he is truly a mystery. It will not be clear how his body will hold up until he gets fully involved in the tournament.

Although Woods is a fun bet, it might be more responsible to sit back and enjoy his comeback and put money elsewhere. The Masters is a great time to spread some money in different markets, and below is an in-depth look at two outright winners, a bet to make the cut and a tournament top-20. OddsShopper has up-to-the-minute 2022 Masters betting lines for all of this weekend’s bets, so be sure to stay tuned in order to lock in the best value throughout the tournament. Let’s dive into the best 2022 Masters bets, picks and predictions.

Expert 2022 Masters Picks, Best Bets & Predictions

Best Bet: Who Will Win The 2022 Masters?

This year’s Masters appears to be more wide open than recent tournaments, with the lowest odds being Jon Rahm at +1200. The hottest golfer in the world, Scottie Scheffler, is coming in at +1500 and will see a high percentage of tickets bet this weekend. Although these two guys are great looks, the better play is Justin Thomas at +1300. Thomas comes into this weekend’s tournament building momentum in recent weeks, where he is third in ball striking since the beginning of February. The main thing people focus on when it comes to Thomas is his disappointing putting in crucial times at Augusta. With that being said, Thomas has begun to putt much better and more consistently recently. Thomas has seen his strokes gained putting go from ranking 175th to inside the top 100 this season. Thomas has played at Augusta six times and is coming into this weekend with a perfect mix of experience and confidence to finally break through and get himself a green jacket. Thomas is one of the best iron players in the world, and pairing his consistent iron play with his strong short game, all he needs is his putter to get hot to be in the mix on Sunday afternoon. If that happens, +1300 will turn out to be strong value.

The Pick: Justin Thomas Outright Winner (+1300)

Best Bet: Longer Shot Masters Winner

The second bet on an outright winner with a little higher odds (+2200) is Patrick Cantlay. Cantlay is the reigning FedEx Cup champion and has been one of the most consistent golfers on the planet over the last year. Although the past few tournaments have not been the best for Cantlay, he began 2022 with finishes of fourth, ninth, fourth and second. With his three recent tournaments being both inconsistent and forgettable, the value on this outright has climbed to a point where it’s worth a play. This +2200 number is essentially a discounted price due to his recent finishes, and it shouldn’t scare bettors off a guy who won four PGA Tour titles last season. Cantlay is the No. 5 player in the world and currently ranks ninth in scoring average, 15th in strokes gained, 21st in strokes gained putting and 30th in strokes gained tee to green. This year’s tournament is a good spot for a well-known top player to finally break through and win a green jacket. At +2200, why not Cantlay?

The Pick: Patrick Cantlay Outright Winner (+2200)

Best Bet to Make the Cut

Betting golf is more than just picking a winner and can be done in entertaining ways such as betting on one golfer to make the cut. This type of bet allows for high entertainment in the Thursday and Friday rounds and offers strong rooting interest in the early rounds before Friday’s cut. Sepp Straka comes into this year’s Masters off recent performances that include a win at the Honda and a top-10 at the Players. With his recent success and his ability to putt at a high level on fast greens, his -140 odds to make the cut make for a solid bet. Straka is one of the more underrated players on tour, and he should play throughout the weekend at Augusta.

The Pick: Sepp Straka to Make the Cut (-140)

Best Top 20 Bet

Collin Morikawa currently sits at -110 to finish top 20, and if his putter is hot, he will not only be top 20 but will also be in contention to win it all on Sunday. As a two-time major champion at only 25 years old, Morikawa shows up in big tournaments as one of the best ball strikers on tour. Morikawa should look to attack flags early and often, and although he is coming off of a missed cut at the Players, expect a good bounce back at Augusta. Finishing 18th at the Masters just one year ago bodes well for his ability to stay within the top 20 again this time around, and at -110 odds there is strong value in this play.

The Pick: Collin Morikawa Top 20 (-110)
