As usual, it is another busy Tuesday night in the NHL with nine games going on across the league. The playoff picture continues to clear up as most teams are already decided, especially in the east, but seeding is still absolutely on the line. With so many games, it is difficult finding the best NHL bets, but with projections, expected ROI and win percentage included in Awesemo’s OddsShopper it makes things a lot more manageable. There is plenty to get through, so let’s make some NHL betting picks today for Tuesday’s games.
NHL Picks Today: Best Hockey Bets & Player Props
Canadiens Puckline vs. Florida Panthers +2.5 (-128, BetMGM)
It is not often there is a +2.5 line in the NHL betting world, but the Canadiens have been quite awful all year so the number looks warranted going into Florida to face the Panthers. That said, the Canadiens in all their terribleness have put together a decent stretch of hockey in March, with points in nine of 13 games and a positive goal differential at five-on-five. At the start of the day most books had Montreal projected for around 2.5 goals in a 6.5 total, which is a vast difference from the current line being offered. In this same March time frame, the Canadiens have done well putting up goals consistently with just one showing under two goals, and only once did they not cover +2.5 (Winnipeg).
This will be no easy feat for the league’s worst team but they have looked like an actual NHL team in March with the return of Brendan Gallagher and Jake Allen in net to raise the level of competition. It is an odd bit of symmetry considering the last article had Florida covering 1.5 (they did not) but this bet offers up superb value at this number regardless.

Trevor Zegras Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+120, DraftKings)
It was a tight race between Josh Anderson and Trevor Zegras for the best NHL shot prop bet on the night, as both carry 85% expected win plus ROI totals. Looking at actual projections and matchups though there is a definitive edge for the Ducks’ pivot with a shot projection of 2.9 facing the Stars. Along with the higher projection, Zegras also carries a more bettor-friendly hold percentage of just 3.6 compared to four even for Anderson. In terms of the matchup, it is not close from a metrics standpoint, as the Panthers are second in the league at preventing opportunities while the Stars have struggled defensively all year and come in at 23rd in terms of Corsi-against.
Zegras has also picked up the volume himself over the last 10 games, with 30 shots over that time and multiple five-shot performances. Getting the Stars at home also means the Ducks can give the young phenom plus matchups while avoiding the depth lines for Dallas that try to muddy up the opponent’s flow. With a high expected win percentage and projection nearly 20% of the current line, this looks like the best NHL bet of the night on the entire docket.
