As we look ahead to the 10-game NBA slate for Wednesday, January 20, we have plenty of NBA odds and options to choose from. I’m looking at the Heat – Raptors game for one of my NBA betting picks, especially looking at the first quarter spread.

Miami Heat at Toronto Raptors: Toronto First Quarter -1 (-120, DraftKings)
First quarter plays have been a nightmare so far, with Denver a loser for us on Tuesday. I’m trusting the numbers and sticking with it, though, as this was very profitable last season. The Raptors have been a letdown this season, both in terms of record and against the spread, but they have been terrific starting games. Toronto is 9-4 against the spread in the first quarter this season, including 5-1 against the spread in the first quarter at home despite home being Tampa for now.
The Heat, who dominated the against the spread in the first quarter numbers last season, have been horrendous early in games as the defending Eastern Conference champs. Miami is just 3-8-1 against the spread in the first quarter, with just one first-quarter cover on the road all season and just one first-quarter cover in their last 10 games. Miami will be without Jimmy Butler, and Tyler Herro is questionable with a neck injury.
Most books are showing -1.5 here, with DraftKings the last shop holding onto -1, per OddsShopper. I’d lock in the -1 if you can grab it, and I think it’s still a play at -1.5.
