Theo Maledon O/U 12.5 Points vs. Houston Rockets

Maledon isn’t a very well known name in the NBA, but if you play DFS, you’ve become familiar with him over the last week of so. The rookie jumped into the starting lineup four games ago and has been steadily improving each game. George Hill’s absence has allowed Maledon to play a slightly larger role, but we should see him get a much larger opportunity on Wednesday against the Rockets. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has also been ruled out for Oklahoma City, taking an additional 21.8 points and 33.2 minutes out of the equation in the backcourt.

The Thunder simply don’t have any other choice but to give Maledon even more run. Over his four starts Maledon is averaging exactly 13 points, but he only went over 12.5 once, with 24 points against the Nets. But he did score 11 points in two of the other starts, games in which Gilgeous-Alexander scored a combined 40 points in 60 minutes. The additional opportunity has to get the rookie over the hump here, facing a Houston backcourt that’ll be without John Wall.
