How to Bet Grizzlies vs. Nets Tonight: Expert NBA Betting Picks & Player Props 1/3/22

Nothing can stop the Grizzlies, not even losing their best player to COVID. With or without Ja Morant, Memphis is on an absolute tear right now, fueled by their star guard. It is not all Morant, but with guys like Dillon Brooks and De’Anthony Melton on the COVID list, Morant has dropped 30-plus in three straight games. The Nets are trying to figure a few things out, as they have also been hit by the COVID bug. But their issues also stem from the floor, where they have dropped their last two games, and are trying to avoid a fourth straight loss at home. Kevin Durant and James Harden will get a boost with the return of Kyrie Irving, but that will have to wait until Wednesday. For now, the Nets are hoping LaMarcus Aldridge can play through a foot injury. Grizzlies vs. Nets NBA Betting Picks & Odds Shopping

The easiest place to find the best bets in the NBA is on the one-stop shop for value and where to place a wager. The best part is the tool is free and easy to use. Simply filter, sort the page and find the best return available across all books.

Grizzlies +6.5 (-110, SugarHouse)

Make sure to head to OddsShopper before you place any wager, as in some cases, like this one, only one book will give the break at 6.5 points, versus the 6 elsewhere. The line reflects more that Memphis is down guys due to COVID (Melton, Brooks and Kyle Anderson) but not how the Grizzlies have handled it. Memphis is on fire and Morant is taking over games. While both Durant and Harden have had huge games, it has not prevented Brooklyn from blowing leads late in games and ultimately losing to good teams. That is the difference here: Memphis beats teams like Golden State, Phoenix and Utah. The Nets are struggling against good-to-better comp because they cannot close out games.

James Harden Under 26.5 points (-105, FanDuel)

It did not take long for Harden to fit himself right back into the rotation after missing time with COVID. The same could be said for Durant. The problem is getting consistent scoring from anywhere else on the team. The public expectation is that Harden will continue to dominate, while the Nets will continue to come up short on their bench. OddsShopper has this as the highest chance of hitting in this game at 68%. Awesemo’s projections have Harden finishing at 23.4 points, just over 2 full points between the book and Awesemo. While he has hit 30 in four straight games, expect a regression, as he has not been shooting it quite well and Memphis presents a defensive hurdle.

The Latest Sports Betting Content from Stokastic Odds

Patty Mills Over 14.5 points (+100, FanDuel)

Brooklyn is going to have to force some looks for other players not named Harden or Durant, and Patty Mills stands the best shot as anyone to benefit. OddsShopper has this play with a 62% chance of going over and a 24% expected ROI with the even-money return. Awesemo even has Mills projected for just over 16 points, so there is a strong correlation to the number going over with the great return here. Since his 30-point outburst against Toronto in mid-December, Mills has failed to go over 14 points in only two of his last seven games, with one of those being exactly 14 points.

Ja Morant Over 27.5 points (-105, DraftKings)

While it does not feel great to go against the OddsShopper number, so much of this is using this free tool as a guide. Informed sports bettors should be going to OddsShopper for a free look at expected ROI, expected win rate and projections.

It is shocking to see how low Morant’s projection is tonight at just over 24 points. The removal of Anderson from this lineup should not impact it, nor should the poor defense of the Nets. Morant has dropped 30-plus in three straight, but Memphis is winning these games. The Nets are too sloppy to hold on to any lead against a good team, and the Grizzlies offense works increasingly better the more Morant scores.

Desmond Bane 5+ 3-Pointers (+240, FanDuel)

Bane is healthy and playing alongside Morant. He is coming off a rough 1-for-7 night from 3 but is still at a ridiculous volume of shots. Without a number of guys on the floor who play healthy minutes, Bane’s shooting volume is increasing — at the very least it is not dropping. Morant can score 50, and Bane will still get 7 to 10 looks from 3. The return at four-plus 3-pointers is +102, so this more than doubled the return by adding an additional 3-pointer. The thinking is that if Bane is going to have a chance to knock down four tonight, it will certainly come with enough looks to hit a fifth.
