Nine games make up the NHL schedule for hockey betting lines today. Since the All-Star break, there have been a consistent four to six games basically every day, so this is a nice change of pace. The larger number of games means there is often value to be had in NHL picks, with the general public following the money. NHL Picks Tonight: Best Hockey Bets & Player Props

Best Bet: Rangers Moneyline vs. Bruins: -150

This is the New York Rangers first game back on the since Feb. 1, which is of some concern, but thankfully they return to play at home against a beat-up Bruins team. Patrice Bergeron (injury) and Brad Marchand (suspension) should both be out of this game, hence the favorable odds for the Rangers; they will see a squad with only one player with more than 10 goals on the year. Goals will already be at a premium for the banged-up Bruins, and facing Igor Shesterkin only complicates this objective. One of the league’s elite goalies, Shesterkin has 22 wins and a league-leading 0.937 save percentage.

The only concern is obviously the rust factor for the returning Rangers, but with the lack of top-end talent for the Bruins and getting them in Madison Square Garden, everything else is working in their favor.

Best Player Prop: Ondrej Palat to Score a Point vs. Devils: -143

Ondrej Palat is primed to get on the scoresheet facing the struggling Devils, who are once again without at least one of their best players in Jesper Bratt and possibly top defenseman Dougie Hamilton. Palat is a beneficiary of his circumstances, but he is a great complement to any top-end talent with his understanding of the game and passing ability. In 43 games Palat has compiled 32 points with some inconsistency at the top, as Nikita Kucherov has missed much of the year. In their careers together Palat and Kucherov have been dynamite, with rates above 60% in expected goals, high-danger chances and actual goals over the last three seasons.

Along with all of the numbers to back up the projected output, Palat is also catching better odds than the opposing Jack Hughes to score a point by over 10%. All told, the value plus the matchup lines up quite nicely for NHL picks tonight as Tampa should put up a crooked number in New Jersey.
