Along with his typical involved nature, the Minnesotan has also seen plenty of ice time over the last 10 with 26+ minutes in four contests.
The Rangers have the league’s best goalie in the net and he has become such because of the Rangers’ inability to stop opponents at 5 vs. 5. For the year, they are 28th overall in Corsi against per 60 at 58.61, even below the league’s doormat in Montreal. Matt Duchene Any Goal Scorer (+750, PointsBet)
Taking a delve into the goal-scoring pool feels a little strange, but as someone who cannot swim, you just have to dive in sometimes. Matt Duchene is an expected 34% winner here taking on the porous Ducks defense with the highest expected ROI on the entire NHL betting slate. Zach Werenski is back in the fold after missing a couple of games for the Jackets facing the Islanders and looks primed to cash in here. The talented defenseman is projected for 3.4 shots on target tonight, which makes him incredibly favorable in terms of short odds bets at this number. For the year, Werenski has averaged over three shots per game and now faces an Islanders squad in the bottom third of the league across the board in possession metrics, including just a 47% shot share at even strength.
Werenski is basically a lock for 26 minutes every night and has picked up the shot volume recently as well, with 19 shots over his last five tilts. Taking the short odds is not exciting but we are entering lock status here.
