Expert UFC Vegas 50 Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Tonight

Marlon Moraes vs. Yadong Song

In a matchup of two bantamweights heading in different directions in their careers, veteran Marlon Moraes will be taking on up-and-comer Yadong Song. Moraes will be looking to right the ship after losing three in a row, and four of five — all by finish. Even his spilt-decision win against Jose Aldo was questionable, as many thought Aldo clearly won two of the three rounds. Moraes is easy to break down. He is incredibly dangerous in the first round both striking and wrestling, and can finish off opponents. However, if Moraes cannot finish the fight in the first round, his cardio will fail him. He just does not have the cardio to go a hard 15 minutes anymore. Realistically, he barely has the cardio to go a hard five minutes. On the flipside, the 24-year-old Yadong Song will be making his 10th UFC appearance and will be looking to get his eighth win in the promotion. The level of competition Song has faced really is not that low either, as he most recently knocked out Julio Arce, who is a very tough test for anyone in the 135-pound division. Song may be fairly cautious in the first round considering Moraes may be the best fighter of all time — if you only counted the first round — but if this fight gets extended out into the later rounds, the pace, power and cardio of Song will prove to be too much for Moraes. He should be able to get the finish.

My UFC Prediction & Best Bet: Yadong Song Inside the Distance -120 (DraftKings)

Drew Dober vs. Terrence McKinney

In a matchup of fun and exciting lightweights, Drew Dober will be clashing with Terrence McKinney, who took this fight on short notice. Dober will be making his 18th appearance in the UFC octagon this weekend looking to improve on his 9-7-1NC (no contest) mark. Dober is an electric striker and on the feet he is incredibly dangerous. Where he runs into problems is his takedown defense. Most of his losses in the UFC have come against grapplers and wrestlers who can take him down to the mat and either ride out rounds or finish him. Most recently, he lost to Brad Riddell by decision, however, he was taken down five times over the course of three rounds. McKinney is taking this fight on short notice after fighting Fares Ziam just two weeks ago. McKinney won that fight by first-round submission, which is important to note because people think of him as a flashy striker as he knocked out Matt Frevola in seven seconds in his UFC debut. However, McKinney’s background is actually in wrestling. McKinney’s cardio is definitely a concern if the fight gets extended into the later rounds, but getting +146 on a fighter who is facing someone with questionable takedown defense is very wide.

My UFC Prediction & Best Bet: Terrence McKinney +146 (FanDuel)

Bonus Prop Bet: Karl Robertson by Submission +1000(FanDuel)

On fights Kahill Roundtree loses insides the distance his opponents have one thing in common. They take Roundtree down. Karl Robertson’s wrestling isn’t elite and Roundtree’s defensive wrestling has improved but if Robertson consistently wrestles, he will get Roundtree down. Once the fight hits the mat, Robertson could look to ground and pound, but a more realistic path to victory for him would to be to hunt for a submission. This line is incredibly wide considering Roundtree’s defensive wrestling inefficiencies.
