FREE EXPERT UFC VEGAS 52 PICKS: Best MMA Bets for Lemos vs. Andrade | Saturday 4/23/22

The UFC returns for UFC Vegas 52 at the Apex with Jessica Andrade returning to the strawweight division to take on surging Amanda Lemos in the main event. With a win, both fighters will be vaulted right into title contention. A bunch of fights had to be remade on short notice because of injuries, and that leaves the odds all over the place. With replacement fighters the level of competition is lower, and that is reflected in how many fights are favored to end inside the distance. There are two fights where the favorite on the money is wider than -1000 — impossible to beat straight up.

However, betting props in MMA is an excellent way to make money. This gives bettors multiple ways to bet when making their UFC Vegas 52 picks tonight. Expert UFC Vegas 52 Picks, Predictions & Best Bets

Jordan Wright vs. Marc-Andre Barriault

Jordan “The Beverly Hills Ninja” Wright will make the UFC walk for the fifth time in the middleweight division when he takes on veteran Marc-Andre Barriault. Both fighters have had up-and-down careers so far in the UFC. Barriault, after losing three in a row, won two consecutive bouts before being run over by Chidi Njokuani in 16 seconds back in February. On the flip side, Wright is 2-2 in the UFC, alternating knockout wins and losses, most recently getting knocked out in the first round by Bruno Silva. This is a very interesting fight because Wright lands 8.09 significant strikes per minute, which is an excellent rate. However, his striking defense is very suspect and he is very hittable, and Barriault lands 5.81 significant strikes per minute — also a high rate. If these two fighters start trading in the pocket, one of them is going to go down. If the fight reaches the second minute of the second round, it will be the longest fight in Wright’s UFC career. So while -152 seems a bit steep to lay under 2.5, the line still has plenty of value.

Best UFC Betting Pick: Wright/Barriault Under 2.5 Rounds -152 (FanDuel)

Maycee Barber vs. Montana De La Rosa

In a battle of flyweight contenders, Maycee “The Future” Barber takes on gritty Montana De La Rosa. Barber gave herself the nickname The Future because she wanted to become the youngest UFC champion of all time, taking the record from Jon Jones. However, that never came to fruition because in her fight with Roxanne Modafferi she tore her ACL in the first round. She still managed to finish the fight, a decision loss, but it was a long recovery from ACL surgery. Since coming back from surgery, she took a decision loss to Alexa Grasso and a decision win against Miranda Maverick. She did not look the best in either fight, but she made it through both fights healthy, and that may be the most important thing.

On the other side, De La Rosa is coming off a second-round TKO of Arianne Lipski. De La Rosa took her down twice and controlled her on the mat until she finished the fight with ground and pound. Lipski has a very obvious liability on the mat, which Barber does not have. While the fight is standing, Barber will have the edge. De La Rosa’s striking has improved over the course of her career, but her bread and butter is on the mat. However, against Barber she may not have a massive advantage down there either. If she struggles to get Barber down to the mat, despite being very tough, she will get picked apart on the feet and might get finished. The one exploit De La Rosa could have on the mat is that Barber does not have very good positional discipline on the mat so De La Rosa could find herself on Barber’s back in a scramble. So while this fight is favored to go the distance, this is a sneaky spot for a finish at +170. Going against the public is always a risky proposition, but this line feels off.

Best UFC Betting Pick: Barber/De La Rosa Does Not Go To Decision +170 (Caesars)
