It’s another multi-course setup for the 2023 Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where there are more factors to consider for this week’s golf DFS picks and core plays.
The tournament is played on three rotating courses, providing players with a unique challenge.
The goal is to select a lineup of golfers who will perform well and earn the most points. To help make informed decisions, a variety of statistics, including recent performance, course history and current form, are analyzed to determine the best plays. Of course, Stokastic’s point projections and ownership projections go a long way to filling out winning lineups. We’ll target three players to build lineups around, starting with a player coming off a career year.

2023 Pebble Beach Pro-Am DFS Picks
Matthew Fitzpatrick
Matthew Fitzpatrick is coming off a career-best season that saw him earn 10 top-10 finishes, including a major victory. This achievement has solidified his place among the game’s elites and makes him a strong contender this week.
With the three courses rotating this week, all featuring below-average sized greens, players can expect more missed greens, which is ideal for elite short game players like Fitzpatrick. He ranks 13th in strokes gained around the green over the last 50 rounds and finished sixth at this event last year. He is Stokastic’s second-highest projected golfer, making him a great play, though keep in mind that he will be a popular choice among players due to the weaker field.
There are potential injury concerns with Fitzpatrick, who said he is dealing with a sore neck. If that’s not worth the risk for you, Viktor Hovland grades out very closely with Fitzpatrick in my model and would be the pivot.

Scott Stallings
Despite not having the recent results to excite fans, Scott Stallings has a history of playing some of his best golf at this event. With two top-10 finishes in the last five years, it is clear that he is comfortable and confident on the course. This year’s event is being played on 100% Poa Annua greens, the only surface on which Stallings gains strokes putting for his career. He is also a fantastic player from the 100- to 125-yard approach distance, ranking 13th in proximity over the last 50 rounds and eighth over the last 100 rounds. Be sure to check Stokastic’s ownership projections Wednesday evening, as he may be worth reconsidering if he gains popularity and surpasses the 20% range.
Matthew NeSmith
Matthew NeSmith’s strength on approach puts him in a strong position to attack the courses. All three courses measure under 7,100 yards, with Pebble Beach being one of the shortest courses played all season, limiting the advantage that longer hitters typically have. NeSmith ranks fourth in this field over the last 50 and 100 rounds in strokes gained on approach and has two top-16 finishes in three career starts at this event. With three consecutive missed cuts, his ownership should be low enough for him to be featured in many lineups this week.
