Expert Wyndham Championship PGA DFS Picks for DraftKings & FanDuel

Having a variety of viewpoints and data points can be both a curse and a blessing. In this article, I sift through all the data and give you top picks from all four statistical angles that make up PGA DFS. There are 151 golfers in the field for the Wyndham Championship, with more being added over the next 24 hours; the total should be 156 come Thursday morning. There is a full slate of statistics to jump into this week with over 80 years of course history, so there should be plenty to work with when making PGA DFS picks on DraftKings and FanDuel.

PGA DFS Picks This Week: Wyndham Championship

John Augenstein is one of only two golfers to have played fewer than four times over the last 11 weeks — PGA Sectional pro Matt Vick is the only other. The average starts per golfer outside of these two in these 11 weeks is 6.56.

Recent Form

Mito Pereira has racked up six top-10s in the past 11 weeks while trotting across the globe. From Detroit to Tokyo to California to Greensboro, N.C., he has only missed one cut in this stretch, which came over six weeks ago.

Louis Oosthuizen leads a pack of five golfers that have accumulated three top-10s over the past couple of months, including Ryan Armour, Sebastian Munoz, Seamus Power and Hank Lebioda. Fifteen others have multiple top-10s, but only Hideki Matsuyama is coming into this week off of consecutive top-10 performances.

Brian Harman and Jhonattan Vegas also deserve mention, as they have competed six times and come in the top 25 in four of six. They also came in the top 10 twice, with only one missed cut among those 12 starts between them. A late add to the field, Robert MacIntyre has achieved special temporary membership with his tie for 15th last week.

Negative Recent Form

Kevin Stadler’s major medical needs to see his play turn in a hurry, or he will after start all over again trying to earn starts. Richy Werenski’s play has also faltered as of late, and he now sits in a very precarious 116th ranking in the FedEx Cup, in jeopardy of missing the playoffs. He has missed six cuts in nine tries over this data set. Brian Gay, Tyler McCumber, Bronson Burgoon, D.J. Trahan and Martin Trainer all have six missed cuts in their seven starts.

Course History

Sedgefield has been around since the beginning of professional golf in this area and dates back to the 1920s. While none of these golfers competed in the Greensboro Open back in the 1930s, there is plenty of history here, and all signs point to Webb Simpson. With six top-10s over the past eight years, Simpson is leaps and bounds above the field in terms of performance here. His worst finish was back in 2016, where he just snuck through the cut and could not find any momentum on the weekend. Outside of that, his worst finish is sixth. He has not won here, however, since 2011.

Si Woo Kim has put together back-to-back top-10s here in the last two years and joins three others that also have three top-10s since 2013; Kevin Kisner and Rory Sabbatini are the other two.

Nine others have multiple top-10s here, including Kevin Na and Sungjae Im going 2-for-2 in their two starts here. Patrick Reed is 5-for-5 in finding the top 25 in his trips to Greensboro since 2013, including two top-10s. Armour has also found success, with two top-10s, two other top-25s and just one missed cut in five trips. That came back in 2015.

Negative

Scott Piercy and Patton Kizzire are two golfers that, on the surface, should be seen as good course fits but have yet to break through with a top 10 in nine starts between the two of them. However, neither of them has missed a cut. The same cannot be said for Aaron Baddeley, Padraig Harrington, Nick Watney and Kevin Tway, all of whom have at least four missed cuts since 2013.
