Finding the right mix of low-owned golfers and chalk is critical when making your fantasy golf picks this week. With 132 players in the field at this week’s PGA Tour event at the beautiful Harbour Town Golf Links, there will be plenty of opportunities to find golfers that not many gamers know about and create the edge necessary to score big at the RBC Heritage 2022. For this week’s tournament, let’s break down some of the best against-the-grain fantasy golf picks on DraftKings and FanDuel.

- 13 golfers
One of the strongest fields in the event’s history starts off with five golfers ranked inside the top 10. All of them are part of this first price grouping, and about 30% of the field has their eyes on Collin Morikawa. It has not been a great season so far, for Morikawa’s standards at least, but it got much better with a breakthrough performance at Augusta, as he earned his first top-five at the event. He comes to Hilton Head for the third time, having made the cut each time and coming in seventh last year. He could be the highest-owned golfer on the slate. Matthew Fitzpatrick, who says the layout here is one of the best on the PGA Tour, is also trending towards being very highly owned as the second golfer from the price range with a projection over 20%. Justin Thomas and Cameron Smith are both coming off of what they would call a disappointing Masters tournament, and they will get close to 20%, as will Patrick Cantlay. Cantlay may feel a bit bitter about his 35th-place finish last week, as he hadn’t played well over the last two months. He will also get close to 20% owned this week.
Then there will be a significant drop-off in the next batch of golfers. All of these should be owned between 10% and 15%:
- Dustin Johnson
- Shane Lowry
- Daniel Berger
- Sungjae Im
- Joaquin Niemann
- Russell Henley
After his blazing nine holes on Sunday at Augusta, Henley has picked up more steam as the week moved on and could end up pushing higher in terms of his projected ownership.

That leaves just two golfers above $9,000 this week that’ll be under 10% owned: Corey Conners and Jordan Spieth. These two couldn’t be further apart in their games, as Spieth’s greatest asset, his putter, has turned icy cold and inevitably led to him missing the cut at Augusta last week for the first time in his career. Certainly, the triple-bogey six on 12 didn’t help, as he is still trying to figure out that hole. It’s cost him millions over the course of his career.
Then there’s Conners, who gets a premium price in a strong field at a course that should be set up well for him. His ownership is all about pricing, whereas Spieth’s is all about form.

- 22 golfers
A stronger field in Hilton Head offers plenty of golfers that will carry a lot of ownership this week. In this price range of 22 golfers, there are three golfers that are close to 20% owned this week: Tommy Fleetwood, Maverick McNealy and Adam Hadwin. All three are playing good golf, and Hadwin is on a streak of three straight top-10 performances. Still, there are plenty of golfers left that will be owned over 10% this week but not quite 20%, including:
- Tyrrell Hatton
- Alex Noren
- Kevin Kisner
- Matt Kuchar
After that there’s a batch of golfers coming in right at 10% this week, including a pair of “big names” that are being linked to the Saudi golf tour headed by Greg Norman: Kevin Na and Jason Kokrak. Two others that will be around 10% owned this week are Billy Horschel and Webb Simpson.
That leaves 10 golfers likely to be owned under 10% this week from this price range. There are plenty of big names in here, including Harold Varner III, Si Woo Kim, Chris Kirk, Mito Pereira, Brian Harman, Tom Hoge, Cameron Young and Kevin Streelman.

Of the names on that last list, Varner leads Awesemo’s PGA DFS Projections with 64.3 points, while Young has the best value grade, coming in at 8.50. The next highest is Streelman, whose value is 8.37.

Even with one of the strongest fields ever here in Hilton Head this week, DraftKings pricing is superb. Only one golfer, Sebastian Munoz, is projected to be owned over 10%. There are a few others that are trending towards that number:
- J.J. Spaun
- Russell Knox
- Sepp Straka
- Denny McCarthy
- Charles Howell III
That should be all the golfers owned over 5% this week, which leaves a ton of names to choose from when going against the grain. A few other names that are of interest include:
- Sahith Theegala
- Aaron Wise
- Patton Kizzire
- Anirban Lahiri
- C.T. Pan
- Cameron Tringale
- Davis Riley
- Rickie Fowler
- Danny Willett
- Mackenzie Hughes
- Joel Dahmen
- Cam Davis
- Chad Ramey
- Emiliano Grillo
- Matthew NeSmith
Wise is projected to score the most points among those golfers according to Awesemo’s PGA DFS Projections, with a projected score of 61 points. But he isn’t the best value according to the projections, as that title goes to Cameron Tringale, whose 8.61 value is best among all golfers in the field. Other top values include Adam Long, Pat Perez and Doc Redman. Be sure to check out how all of the Awesemo experts are ranking these golfers in the Pro Plays Tool.
