Yahoo Cup Fantasy Golf Picks This Week for the 2022 Genesis Invitational

Looking for a way to learn Fantasy Golf without jumping in with both feet? We have a perfect solution for you. Yahoo and Yahoo Fantasy are offering a $15,000 freeroll called the PGA “Yahoo Cup.” This contest awards a winner for weekly events and one winner at the end of the season who has the most cumulative points. It will go for 39 weeks, with the lowest nine weeks of scoring being dropped from your total score. Each week also features a $150-to-first contest, making every round matter just as much as the last. Let’s dig into the best Fantasy Golf picks this week and DFS Golf value plays for the 2022 Genesis Invitational.

Course Preview: Riviera Country Club

This bustling country club in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles is one of the truest and most challenging tests all year. A par 71 that measures 7,300 yards, it features a challenging, drivable par 4 and three difficult par 5’s. Scoring on average is about 20% less than last week’s event, making par a good score this week.

Top Three Fantasy Golf Picks This Week for the 2022 Genesis Invitational

Bubba Watson ($33)

After taking the first couple months of the season off completely, Watson returned to the PGA Tour last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and carded a solid finish with a tie for 12th. That is also following a second-place finish in Saudi Arabia, as the time off looks to have done Watson pretty well. He will come to a course and tournament where he has won twice before, but he also has a few missed cuts more recently than the wins. Still, Watson’s form seems to be there, and his salary is the average salary this week, representing good value for his upside.

Adam Hadwin ($21)

Looking like a contender at one point, Hadwin held the lead on Saturday all by himself after a fast start. But that did not manifest to anything, as he stalled out at 11 under, exactly where he was during his run to the top of the leaderboard. Ultimately it showed solid form, and he comes to an event where he has earned a paycheck seven straight times he has teed it up. That is good consistency for someone who is basically the minimum salary this week.

Francesco Molinari ($20)

It is none too often that the same golfer makes this column two weeks in a row, but Molinari is worth it. He leads a rather extensive list of golfers at the minimum salary that will get plenty of allocation this week. Some of the other names that are the minimum salary are Sahith Theegala, Erik van Rooyen, Doug Ghim and Aaron Rai. Molinari’s move to the U.S. brought him to California, close enough to Riviera that he has become a member of this tournament’s host club. His form has been trending up all fall, and what better way to return to top form than playing at his home course?
